something about her before we
We know the portrait has a permanent sticking charm, and none of the order could remove it, so I think it would be too convenient if Harry and Ginny somehow managed to get it off the wall now, even if they had help from Hermione! I was thinking, perhaps it could be painted over. Could a wizard artist paint another portrait over the canvas? How would that work? We haven't seen how wizard paintings are created, so it could be an interesting process to write about. Of course, someone else might have some other ideas about how to deal with the painting. With the defeat of Voldemort, perhaps Mrs Black would be susceptible to some counselling! Also, Kreacher might still find it painful to see his beloved house being re-decorated (remember the elf heads). Do you think he would be there helping, or will Harry and Ginny send for him when it's all done?

I agree with what has already been said about dialogues in the previous story. Writing the dialogues was also more fun than writing the narrative parts because there was more room for creativity - since we knew exactly what story was to be told, the only original ideas for us to include were the circumstances of the story-telling. I think it is good when we more or less know (and agree) what we want to do with the plot eventually but the plot itself is mostly our invention.
Great idea! A new magical portrait? One that would be able to "deal with" the "underlying" Mrs Black? Who would that be? I have always been interested in the process of painting a magical portrait. But I guess perhaps they should try a couple of other ideas before they think of the one that works. (Perhaps the portrait of Phineas could give them some advice.)

grim determination. "I don't want
Painting over the painting... ooh... the possibilities! Perhaps the painter has some charm put on his/her ears that renders them temporarily deaf? And I agree, Julia, a few failed attempts would make things more interesting. Would love writing for Phineas Nigellus, who must be a touch less snarky towards Harry post DH, given what he said after the battle, about Slytherin doing its part to help defeat Voldemort. Or was that Slughorn?
Edit: Thanks for all the post-story comments, folks! They've all been posted in spoiler boxes in the 'post-story comments' post, after the stats.

Oooh, I like the Regulus idea! I thought of Sirius, but I don't think Sirius and Mrs Black together would bring peace to the household. I'd love to explore the Regulus character a bit, and he definitely deserves a portrait in the house. (Not that everyone who deserves a portrait ends up receiving one. )
Edit: Hi, PAH!

I remembered the charm Hermione used in the battle of Hogwarts that turned the curtains into stone. Maybe that would work for a while?

- Spoiler:
- I was thinking that Harry, as much as he loves the Burrow, might feel a bit cramped living there as a newly-married man for an extended period of time, and that we could establish, through some dialogue between him and Ginny, the timeframe of this story, eg how long they've been married. (re: Verity's comment in the story-starting post)Verity Weasley wrote: So, I imagine this story taking place when Harry and Ginny move into 12 Grimmauld Place, before any kids have come along, but perhaps after they have been married. Presumably they got together fairly quickly after Deathly Hallows. How long do you think before they got married and settled down in their own place?
Thanks, BB. As DD would say, "It's for the greater good."

we can't make this place
Yes PAH, I agree, we need to establish the timeframe etc in the story, either through some dialogue or some narrative.

Wow! There was a spurt of activity here!
I have to run, but I can come back later tonight to play some more.
If I was to guess I would think the 3 day story was the one of the weddings.

Hmmm... just what? Yesterday? Last week? Last month? Decisions, decisions. Oh, the pressure!
No idea. I do know that I have 77 more HP Trivia Quizzes, all 400+ riddles, and loads of archived Five Words stories left to post. And it's best to post these things in their own individual posts, with their own post addresses, rather than a bulk post of 20 quizzes, riddles, stories in one. It would be hard to access them in an index if they were all bulk posted. Never mind all the posting back and forth on the 'Effort to Archive Threads' thread with the everyone who's archived threads. So, my post numbers are a bit ridiculous really, and I feel a bit about them.
But thanks! And now... drumroll please... on with our story...

"Agreed," Ginny said, moving away
I just figured Ginny wouldn't want to have this chat near the surly windbag hanging on the wall.
Idea #1 re: a FW T (sans sleeves) On that note, gotta attend to my laundry.
Edit: Harry suggested earlier that they try Duro!. Maybe they do that first before going to see Hermione? So we don't have that many loose ends by story's end?
