Story #136
. Immediately, the hat proclaimed "Gryffindor!"
I thought the hat would have seen that Fred and George were so similar that it would immediately have duplicated it's sorting of Fred.
I liked the previous story. There are some parts that could be improved with editing (as with almost all stories) but I think it stands up well as it is. I really liked the idea of adding a friendly companion to help. Once it was suggested, I thought it made a lot of sense. It was one of those "why didn't I think of that" moments.

PAH, I agree with Mona. It's a lovely photo - you were very cute as a first grader - not like the ones I had today! I meant to comment on it when you first changed it, but got sidetracked with the story.

Since it was just Fred who said,"I knew it!", shouldn't it be "as George joined him"? So I'm going to remove 'them' in the previous post and have added a 6th word to balance it out.
Thanks, Verity. My mom was very fond of ribbons and lace.
And Mona, I don't think I ever said it before, when you put up your current avatar, but it's a lovely picture of you and you have such a wonderfully contemplative expression.

Thanks, PAH. Just curious. I guess I always think of NYC as someplace people move to, not a place people grow up. Silly, because I know that is not true.

Checked the Lexicon... Bill's been gone 2 years, Charlie's in his 7th year, and Percy's a 3rd year.
Sure thing, Puck. Over the years, I've vacationed in your neck of the woods - New England (Cape Cod-MA, York-ME, Lake Winnipesaukee-NH, various skiing places in VT) - and I always think of those places as getaway spots, for lots of R&R. It's all relative.

Thanks, PAH! It's actually part of a much bigger pic of me, hubby, son, SIL, and SIL's hubby, taken last easter. I don't seem to have any of the three of us alone so I first cropped out SIL and her hubby, but the three of us remaining didn't work as a group, so I ended up cropping out everything except my face!
- Spoiler:
- happily at each other...or something else.

happily. They could hardly wait
I think, despite some surprising sentences, the last story was one of our better ones - and a lot of fun to write. The task was ideally specified by the beginning of the story: Harry and Ginny had to do something about Mrs Black and they had to succeed eventually.
We didn't find out much about the painting of magical portraits, but perhaps we'll have another chance in the future...
As for why Kreacher did not suggest Regulus at once, I guess he was thinking of Mrs Black's friends at first (the ones he had most often seen her with), and not so much of who he, personally, would like to see most. Even if Regulus was the favourite son, I think Mrs Black must have been, as a mother, rather dominant and not excessively indulgent, so I'm glad she got along so well with her "returned" son. Kreacher has also understood by now that, at the end of his life, Regulus broke with the family values finally. I definitely saw some risks for Regulus in the "shared" portrait. Perhaps these were the reasons why Kreacher did not think of him immediately as the most likely person Walburga would be happy to see.
I really like the ending. I wonder how Harry and Ginny will "decorate accordingly" though. Using lots of green? Putting up Professor Snape's portrait next to his colleague's?
Great picture, PAH!

- Spoiler:
- I'm thinking about the warning had given Harry and Co. in their first year re: the 3rd floor corridor, or whatever area was restricted. Perhaps there was something similar in F & G's first year, albeit less dire. So... a possibility for the twins' first adventure?

Greenhouse Two after the sudden
I'm sure someone can think of some herbological disaster or the other. And Puck, what's Filching? Shouldn't it be just Filch?
Just over 27 pages left in this thread x 15 posts per page = approx. 400 posts. So we can write either one 2,000 word story or two 1,000-worders. Any thoughts?
