Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XVII)

Post  Potteraholic on Sun Apr 01, 2012 2:48 pm

Welcome to Potty Five Words, Volume XVII! This is a game invented by the Potties, first played in October 2005 on the Harry Potter Lexicon FanFiction Forum on World Crossing. It resided there for 5 years and 12 volumes/threads, then moved over to the Harry Potter Lexicon Forum in July 2010; some Forum members wondered if it could be played on the Main Forum, along with all the other wonderful Potty Games so many of us enjoyed. So, with Kip's approval... the move was made!

And then the whole Harry Potter Lexicon Forum moved, to our new home here on forumotion.com. This is now the second Five Words thread here, and we have settled in quite nicely.

Now... back to the game!

The rules of this game are simple: place five words in your post that continue the story told through other members' five words. Strung together, the five words will make a much, much longer story. (You might add another much to that list if some people decide to go on a posting spree, which has been done in the past. )

If you're new to Five Words, or even if you've been playing since since the beginning, take a look at some suggestions Finn (the creator of the Five Words thread on the Harry Potter Lexicon Forum), made at the conclusion of Volume V.

We ask that you please post your five words in
bold format. This will help distinguish your addition to the story from other side comments you might make in your post, and help the story posters when they compile the story at the end. The way to do this is by:

— typing a in front of the text you want in bold then after it to unbold anything else you might post.

Enjoy! Smile

Story #147

Post  Potteraholic on Sun Apr 01, 2012 3:02 pm

Welcome to Five Words, Volume XVII! There have been 146 stories written so far, over 16 volumes. And it is still going strong, albeit with less people playing than a few years ago. But as long as there are at least 2 interested in playing, this writing game will go on!

As this new volume of Five Word stories begins on the 1st of April, the same day as the birthday, I thought, "Why not have a story about them to mark the occasion?"

So, the only thing that's being established is that it's the special day. All the other details about time, place. etc. are up to us to decide, as we go along. Here we go! Smile

"Happy Birthday, Fred and George!"

Lee pulled back the hangings

So they're at school, since Lee is there.

Very topical idea for a story, PAH.

I'll post my comments about the last story on the other thread later on. I have to go to work now.

It was a good, but busy day (nothing new there!) I was in a meeting about class placement for next year that went for 3 and a half hours! But it was very productive.

How did your niece go PAH?

    bed, madly waving two presents

Spoiler:
... above his head?

Mona and Verity, great news, my 8 year-old niece and her 1st and 2nd grade teammates won the championship! Basketball bounce cheers bounce Basketball It was a close game, 28 - 23. The team was sponsored by a local company, the G---burg Drillers. (Left out some letters for privacy.) It reminded me of Vernon Dursley when I first heard the name. And the blueberry cupcakes with vanilla frosting and purple sprinkles my sister baked turned out to be celebratory treats, and not just treats.

Verity, some of our placement meetings have gone that long, too. It's quite draining! But I'll be missing that experience this year. Can't say as I'll be too disappointed. I just trust that everyone will do their best to set-up a well-balanced class for me, for my return to the classroom next year.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that my nephew says he will no longer sit next to me during games, as I cheer too loudly and make his ears hurt. And I get out of my seat too much. bounce I can't help it... if a game is exciting, esp. a championship, one, I am an active spectator. Very Happy

So now we know they are first-years!

Thanks, Verity! It was quite a thrilling game! And it was amazing to see how the team's skills have grown over the past 3 months. My brother-in-law coached both my niece and nephew's teams, and he really helped everyone along so well.

"What's so special

Thanks, Mona! I did feel bad for the other team, esp. the 2 tykes who started crying as soon as the final whistle blew. Oh, the agony of defeat. I wanted to give them a pat on their backs, and say "Good game," but thought it best to leave things be.

Now, that basketball playoffs are over, there's a recital at the end of the month to get ready for. We're still waiting to hear if my nephew made it into his school's end-of-the-year talent show. He played some Beatles tunes on his electric guitar for his audition. He was in the show last year, and we have our fingers crossed he's in it again this year, too.

Spoiler:
Perhaps he could give some examples of what makes 12 a special number - 12 months in a year etc. I think there was a thread devoted to the significance of 12 at one time.
Great smiley PAH.

Maybe the twins don't need that much convincing about 12? And I wonder what Lee got them? Were the presents the same item? Were they a joke for April fools? And he'll give them the real presents later?
