Story #148
"
Dolores coughed, then said, "Griselda
I wonder what ol' Dolly thinks about that.
So, does anyone have any suggestions about where this exchange between Griselda and Dolores leads to? Will there be any 'action' in this story, or will it remain dialogue-based? In terms of the time frame of this story, it happens after ch. 31 in OoTP but before ch. 32, which are summarized by the Lexicon thus:
Ch. 31 - In which Harry and Hermione tell Ron about Grawp, the fifth years take their O.W.L.s, Hagrid is sacked, McGonagall is stunned, and Harry dreams that Sirius is being tortured.
Ch. 32 - In which Ron, Hermione, Neville, and Luna help Harry break into Umbridge's office, Kreacher leads Harry to believe that Sirius is at the Department of Mysteries, and Hermione tricks Umbridge into taking her and Harry into the Forbidden Forest.
So would Minnie McG's stunning already have happened while our story is taking place, and Griselda is marking exam papers? Would she know about it? Would she and Dolly discuss it now, maybe?
I'm asking because I want to get a sense of the time frame, so it can guide the progress of this story.

Story #148
, these are extenuating circumstances. Dumbledore
I've been thinking about our timeline too. I fear we have written ourselves into a bit of a tight spot. The exam answers we were quoting earlier sounded very much like History of Magic, but now that Umbridge has arrived on the scene, this can't really be after that exam. Harry collapsed towards the end of that exam, then straight after it told Ron and Ginny what he'd seen. Their plan to break into Umbridge's office to use her fireplace swung into motion very quickly after that, involving Ron luring her away but ultimately ended with Umbridge catching them all. So when Griselda is marking those papers, if they are History of Magic papers, Umbridge should be threatening Harry in her office, or being carried away by the Centaurs. Unless, this all takes place in that 30 minutes or so after the end of the exam, in which case we could signal that by having Ron turn up to tell Umbridge that Peeves was smashing up the Transfiguration department. I suppose that could be feasible.
If that's the case, we can continue our brief exchange between Dolly (what a highly inappropriate nickname for such an unpleasant person! ) and Griselda, then have Ron turn up to provide a nice climax for the story. I'm thinking Dolly might start to get a bit defensive and give up trying to be smarmy to Griselda and bring up her ties to subversive goblin groups.

has exposed the students here ... to something or the other.
Thanks for checking up on the exact timeline, Verity. What I forgot to mention in my long post above — I could've sworn it written it, though — was that I didn't have my books handy to check for myself.
Verity, I think your suggestion is the best way to go.

We are at roughly just under 750 words. This story would be a good candidate for a length of 1,000 to 1,100 words.

PAH, that sounds like a good suggested length for this story. Now I have the books on my kindle, it makes it super easy to look stuff up and check details.

Some mention of Dumbledore's Army, perhaps?
I too like Verity's suggestion, if I've got it right. So Ron will come and interrupt them after a while, right?

I think Dolly would resort to her favourite form of defence - attack - and perhaps bring up Griselda's reported links with subversive goblin groups, or the fact that she is no longer a member of the Wizengamot (she resigned in protest at Dumbledore's removal).
