No, they're orange. Close, though.

Azi, it's your turn. If you answer this and roll more than a two then you will move into second place. Question: Which centaur is wild and black-haired?

_____________________________________

Puck - Dec 13, 2007 8:56 pm (#2202 of 2575)

D'oh! I almost said orange, but deleted it.

_____________________________________

azi - Dec 13, 2007 11:44 pm (#2203 of 2575)

Erm, I will guess Bane. Black counter.

_____________________________________

Potteraholic - Dec 14, 2007 12:00 am (#2204 of 2575)

azi, I only know 2 centaur's names: Firenze and Bane. So I would have said Bane, too. Wait a minute, was there also one named Ronan? Even if there is, I still would have said Bane.

***wondering how you liked the House DVD***

_____________________________________

Liz Mann - Dec 14, 2007 1:19 am (#2205 of 2575)

Yes it was Bane! (And PAH, don't forget Ronan.) And I rolled a six! Which means you are now in clear second place, though PAH is still a few spaces ahead of you.

PAH, let's see if you can put some more distance between yourself and Azi. Your question: How many letters are sent from Hogwarts on the third attempt at delivery to Harry?

_____________________________________

PatPat- Dec 14, 2007 1:53 am (#2206 of 2575)

Whoa! I can't believe I got my question right! BTW, I forgot to say my color was grey. Sorry!!

That's a tough one, PAH! Good luck!

_____________________________________

Potteraholic - Dec 14, 2007 2:42 am (#2207 of 2575)

Okay, let's see; bear with me here. I've got to keep the movie version out of my head. The first time, there was one and Uncle Vernon grabbed it. The second time, also one I think, but by then, Harry had been given Dudley's 2nd bedroom. Then... the next day, Harry tried to sneak down and get the post, but Uncle Vernon was there, sleeping in front of the mail slot. And after that, there were loads coming out of the fireplace and then the Dursleys and Harry went driving all over.

So...how many letters were there the 3rd time? Jo likes numbers like 3, 7, 12. So I'll say...3? Oh, and gold is my color.

_____________________________________

Liz Mann - Dec 14, 2007 2:09 pm (#2208 of 2575)

Well the answer on the question card is wrong. It says twelve, which is how many was delivered on the fourth attempt. The person who came up with the questions must have forgotten one of them. Anyway, I checked the book and the answer is indeed three. I rolled a two for you.

PatPat, you are currently in third place. Here's your question: Professor McGonagall's study is on what floor of Hogwarts?

_____________________________________

PatPat- Dec 14, 2007 2:25 pm (#2209 of 2575)

***sigh*** Why do I keep getting these floor questions? No one knows what floor anything is on! They change in each book! OK, let's think. First book. OK, they went to her study, I think, after coming back from the Astronomy tower after giving Norbert to Charlie's friends. That's where she yelled at them. hmmm. How far downstairs did they go? AARRGGHHH! I'm just going to have to guess here. I'll say seventh floor.

Sorry, PatPat, it's on the first floor.

Puck, your turn again. You're currently in last place but could move ahead of PatPat if you get this right.

Question: At the beginning-of-term feast, Nearly Headless Nick tells the new Gryffindors that he hasn't eaten for how many years? (Be careful.)

_____________________________________

Puck - Dec 14, 2007 10:10 pm (#2213 of 2575)

Well. it was actually 499 years, but I think he just rounded it off to 500. I'm silver.

_____________________________________

PatPat- Dec 14, 2007 10:57 pm (#2214 of 2575)

mmm. Puck I think that was one of the math mistakes in HP. I think he actually said nearly 400 years. JKR and her "maths" again!

***sigh***I knew I was going to get that floor one wrong. Oh well.

***chomps on some Fizzing Whizbees for comfort***

Yes, I have a sweet tooth!

Potteraholic - Dec 14, 2007 11:19 pm (#2215 of 2575)

Harry Potter Trivia game in progress. Here's an update:

Puck = silver 5 (with Puck awaiting response to her answer) azi = black 4 Potteraholic = gold 4 PatPat = grey 4

It seems like many of these "number of" questions are a bit suspect, given Jo's wobbly calculations!

***thinking am bound to get another numbers question since I have questioned Her Royal Rowlingness***

_____________________________________

PatPat- Dec 14, 2007 11:21 pm (#2216 of 2575)

Yeah, the floor ones too! They change several times!

(Of course I'll probably get another floor question.)

_____________________________________

Liz Mann - Dec 15, 2007 12:00 am (#2217 of 2575)

Unfortunately, Puck, PatPat is right. That's why I said be careful. He said 400 years therefore that is the answer, even if it's not actually right.

Azi, your question: En route to rescuing the Philosopher's Stone, Harry and Hermione enter a chamber that contains several potion bottles. How many bottles are there?

_____________________________________

Potteraholic - Dec 15, 2007 12:11 am (#2218 of 2575)

Ooh, I actually know this 100%. That happens very rarely in this game! Too bad it's not my turn!

_____________________________________

PatPat- Dec 15, 2007 12:14 am (#2219 of 2575)

***sigh*** I know this one, too, PAH. And when my turn comes, I'll probably get: what floor is Professor Quirrel's room on?

_____________________________________

Potteraholic - Dec 15, 2007 3:07 am (#2220 of 2575)

Awww, poor PatPat! Maybe this will help:

Yes, I actually know the current question as well. Figures.

PatPat- Dec 15, 2007 3:07 pm (#2222 of 2575)

mmmm. Thanks, PAH! Of course you can have a bite, Puck! And anyone else who wants one! ***breaks off several pieces and offers them around***

Yum! Is this from Honeydukes?!

_____________________________________

Liz Mann - Dec 15, 2007 3:38 pm (#2223 of 2575)

Hee hee! Would you rather be asked things like who the DADA professor was or what platform the Hogwarts Express goes from?

I'll try and find some slightly easier questions from now on.

_____________________________________

Potteraholic - Dec 15, 2007 3:45 pm (#2224 of 2575)

I'm just kidding, Liz. The questions you've been choosing to ask are absolutely fine. You're right; it wouldn't be much of a game if you asked us questions like those.

And PatPat, only Honeyduke's finest chocolate for you!

***getting ready to go out and get some Christmas shopping done and wishing it was done already***

azi's awake/back! And I think you're right about the 7 bottles.

I tried to look at the pictures of your mini-holiday with the info. you posted, but don't think I'm doing it right. I'm not familiar with facebook's layout and I just dont know what I'm doing wrong. From your chat thread post, it sounded like you had fun.

_____________________________________

Liz Mann - Dec 17, 2007 1:37 am (#2234 of 2575)

Seven is correct, Azi! I rolled a two. You're still in second place.

PAH, you're next. Question: Students perform which magical feat for Professor Flitwick's end of year exam?

_____________________________________

Potteraholic - Dec 17, 2007 2:38 am (#2235 of 2575)

Okay, complete wild guess here. Am thinking it has something to do with Wingardium leviosa! because that spell figured so much in the whole troll escapade at Hallowe'en. But what would they need to levitate? A teacup? A spoon? Absolutely no idea! Getting 3 6's in a row more than makes up for not moving during this turn, believe me. So I'll say -- a spoon. I've got to say something, right? And gold is my color.

Oh dear, I'm afraid you're wrong, PAH. They had to make a pineapple dance across the desk.

PatPat, your turn now. Question: What sort of hat tumbles out of the Christmas cracker that Harry pulls with Fred?

_____________________________________

PatPat- Dec 17, 2007 1:45 pm (#2238 of 2575)

Oh boy, I remember the hat with the stuffed vulture coming out of a cracker but I'm pretty sure that was in PoA, not PS. ***sigh*** I also seem to remember some sort of pink hat. Ah well, I'll go with the pink one, but I don't remember exactly what type it was, so I am sure I am completely wrong!

And my color is grey.

***sits back preparing to be in last place. Pulls out the rest of the Honeydukes candybar for comfort***

_____________________________________

Liz Mann - Dec 17, 2007 8:32 pm (#2240 of 2575)

It was a Rear Admiral's hat.

Puck, your question: What does Rubeus Hagrid say to Ron Weasley after Norbert bites him?

Of course, the tap-dancing pineapple routine! How could I forget?

My guess is the Hagrid said something about teething.

_____________________________________

Liz Mann - Dec 18, 2007 5:13 pm (#2243 of 2575)

He tells Ron off for frightening Norbert. Maybe you all need to go back and re-read the first book.

Azi, your turn again. This could possibly be your opportunity to overtake PAH for first place as you are only three spaces behind. Question: When was Olivanders’ established?

_____________________________________

Puck - Dec 18, 2007 6:49 pm (#2244 of 2575)

You know, I was thinking about him telling Ron not to frightening Norbert, and then seconded guessed myself, just like I did with the eye color. Perhaps I should just go with my first instinct from now on.

I just don't seem able to recall that kind of minute detail.

382 BC is correct, azi! And, you got a six and have moved into first place.

PAH, let's see if you can reclaim the first place position. Your question: When they are visiting Diagon Alley, what do Hagrid and Harry buy immediately after they finish their ice cream?

_____________________________________

Potteraholic - Dec 20, 2007 1:04 am (#2250 of 2575)

Hmmm... there might be some movie contamination here. Let's see, something Hagrid and Harry buy together? Harry gets his wand and his robes on his own, Hagrid gets Hedwig on his own, so that leaves his books and potions ingredients. So I'll go with... books? No idea. Potteraholic= gold

Oh, sorry PAH, it was his parchment and quills. Remember he cheered up a bit after his conversation with Malfoy in Madam Malkins when he found a bottle of ink that changed colour as you wrote.

I might not have gotten that either, actually. I thought he went somewhere else between Madam Malkin's and that shop. *shrugs*

Well his favourite sport in book one was 'Harry-hunting', but since Harry-hunting generally ends in Harry being used as a punch bag, I'll give it to you.

I rolled a three, and you and PatPat are now in joint last place.

Azi, your next question: What colour is the egg from which Norbert hatches?

Mmm... profiteroles. Yes, please, azi! A perfect way to celebrate the official start of the school holidays!

Puck, profiteroles are cream-or custard-filled pastry balls that are dipped in chocolate; at least the ones I've eaten in the past were like that -- azi's might be a bit different. They are delicious and I especially like them when they are chilled.

They're Maryland cookies (I don't know if you have them in the US?). I like them because they have more chocolate chips than cookie, and I can nibble around the chips so they're eaten last.

***gets more ice for the cold compress*** Good thinking, azi! Hope Ticker doesn't get a big lump on her head. ***starts rooting in knitting bag for some kind of headache medicine***

Those cookies sound truly scrumptious. I agree, the more chips, the better! So, azi, which are better, Cadbury's Roses or Quality Street? I prefer Cadbury's but won't say no to some Quality Street if there's an open box lying around!

My teeth hurt just thinking about all these sweets: profiteroles, choc. chip cookies, and now Cadbury's! ***goes off to make a toasted cheese sandwich***

azi - Dec 23, 2007 5:55 pm (#2283 of 2575)

Cadbury's is my preference too, but I'll eat both.

Lol, I just finished eating a cheese and cucumber sandwich on seeded bread. Yummy and healthy (except for those crisps I put in it...lol!). My diet sounds awful...believe me when I say I do have lots of vegetables and fruit (they just aren't worth talking about)!

**continues making wrapper collage** It's going to have a rainbow.

It's a rainy day in Brooklyn --it's been like this all day-- and I've just been wrapping presents, doing laundry, folding laundry, and checking the Forum. So... since I've got some time on my hands before I leave to go to my parents' place, I thought I'd go through all the trivia game questions, answers, and moves. Hope you don't mind, Liz, but me being me, which is somewhat anal and detail-oriented, I made a chart of the game results. I've gone through it twice, and I'm pretty sure all the figures are correct. Maybe you'll find it helpful.

Edited to add: I just realized that I didn't explain what R or W mean; Right or Wrong.

*Edited per Potteraholic's request. Please email me if you have any questions.

archivist’s note: Sadly, when saving the World Crossing thread, the chart didn’t save as a text file.

Anyone want peppermint hot chocolate? It's yummy! **takes a big gulp**

We have about 8 posts until we max out this thread!

_____________________________________

Potteraholic - Dec 23, 2007 10:42 pm (#2287 of 2575)

Tazzy! That peppermint hot chocolate does sound yummy, so yes, a mug for me please!

Really, about 8 (or now 7) posts left? I just checked out the info about your post (#2286), and the number at the end of the web address is 2293. I thought threads had a max. capacity of 3,000 posts? Did something on WX change recently? Or am I interpreting the number at the end of a post's web address wrong?

_____________________________________

Liz Mann - Dec 24, 2007 4:16 pm (#2288 of 2575)

Thank you PAH! That was really helpful, especially since I have discovered from it that some of the pieces on the board were in the wrong place before it got knocked. I knew some of them had been shifted before but I thought I'd put them back in the right place. Obviously not.

As it actually stands, azi and PAH are in tied first place, nine spaces ahead of PatPat, who is six spaces ahead of Puck. I had everyone in the right place except for you, PAH, so it really is a good job you did that chart.

Puck, your question was wrong I'm afraid - it's five knuts.

Azi, your turn. Question: How many students can ride in each boat that carries them across the lake to Hogwarts castle? (Remember Hagrid shouting, "No more than ___ to a boat!")

azi - Dec 24, 2007 4:22 pm (#2289 of 2575)

Black says 4.

**settles down with peppermint hot chocolate** Mmmm...

PAH, if people delete posts, then that reduces the number of posts available on this thread, I think.

***wondering if Ticker is feeling any better since she's been lying there on the floor for a bit*** I think you're right, azi. At least, that's what I would have said!

Yay! It's a beautiful sunny Christmas Eve morning here at my parents' house. I have a couple of hours to myself before I start helping out in the kitchen getting ready for tomorrow's feast!

Liz, I'm glad the chart helped. It was a surprise to find that azi and I were tied for 1st place, but I'm sure that won't last long! Especially if some more numbers questions come up!

And, azi, I know that deleting posts shortens the life of a thread, but I thought that the number at the end of a post's web address showed the actual number of posts used in that thread, despite the actual number given to the post that we all see in blue. Very wordy explanation, that. Simpler version: This post is #2290, but the number at the end of its web address is 2296. So that means that 6 posts have been deleted, right? And we have about 700 more posts in this thread if the max. is 3,000? I know, I'll just ask the hosts!

Edited to add: RE: the max. number of posts in a thread, I didn't want to bother the hosts, so I did some research on the Potty Games thread (Vol.IV) which closed recently. It closed with a 2999 at the end of the web address, at post #2987, so about 13 posts were deleted. So I think that means that we have quite a few posts to go, everyone, before we max out!

On the number of posts- As of this post here, there has been a total of.... 2300.... **smacks forehead** Blame it on lack of sleep, a sugar high, and my brain being on vacation. We do in fact have several hundred more posts to go. LOL!!!! (I know what I did now- I didn't look at the 2293 in the number of posts. I just looked at the 93 and assumed we were at the end of the 2000s. Not sure if that made sense, but there you go. )

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!

Azi, you're correct, the answer is four. And I rolled a six! A bit of Christmas luck. You've just passed the halfway mark around the board.

PAH, your question: What ingredients make up a simple potion to cure boils?

_____________________________________

Potteraholic - Dec 26, 2007 3:43 am (#2295 of 2575)

MERRY/HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

Well, let me begin my answer by saying that in my other life outside St.Mungo's, chemistry was never my subject. Consequently, I am rubbish at potions! The potion to cure boils learned by Harry in his first year may be a simple one, but I have no idea what one ingredient is, let alone ingredients!

I'm gold and I'm not goin' anywhere because I have no idea on the answer. ***hoping that this does not mark the start of another round of not knowing any answers and beginning to set roots in one spot***

Note: * waiting for Liz's response to her answer and * waiting for her answer to Liz's question.

It was crushed nettles and snake fangs. And if I remember correctly there were also porcupine quills, which Neville added too soon, resulting in a melted cauldron.

Okay, PatPat, your turn. Which teacher has yellow eyes like a hawk?

_____________________________________

Potteraholic - Dec 26, 2007 1:17 pm (#2297 of 2575)

I will, of course, remember these ingredients for ever and ever, but will probably never need to recall them for anything else ever again.

Typical! Of course I know the answer to PatPat's question! But PatPat, you have had some tough questions before (which floor...) so you deserve this "non-floor" question. (Hope you're feeling better now that you're home. Is your appetite any better? Has any of our talk about profiteroles, cookies, chocolates, milk, tea, and cheese sandwiches done anything to improve it? )

***wondering if Tazzygirl has any more of that yummy peppermint hot chocolate***

Note: * waiting for Liz's response to her answer and * waiting for her answer to Liz's question.

(I didn't want to use up a post on the Five Words thread to make this plea to azi, PatPat, Puck, Tazzygirl and any other Five Worders who happen to stop by St. Mungo's: Help! The thread's dormant! No one's posted since Dec 23, 2007 11:52 pm, almost 3 days ago! Something's got to happen to the story; an ending at least. Maybe it was all just Neville's dream. / (half serious, half joking)

(I wonder if Puck's on vacation with her family or if her laptop battery finally gave up and died?)

PatPat, I'm doing a test. Which of these colors came out as a grey you like (for your HP trivia game piece): 1, 2, or 3? Or did they all come out as some shade of green again?
1. grey
2. grey
3. grey

(PatPat, instead of typing 'grey' I used some HTML code for different colors on this website: just Hex Hub HTML Color Codes and use the wwwdotdecemberdotcom site. So... which is it? Grey #1, #2, or #3? )

Pounds be darned, I'll have another slice of cheesecake after all, seeing as how PatPat pulled out her fancy multiplying spell. Wouldn't want any of that yummy treat to go to waste!

Yes, this room is shaping up nicely. azi's wrapper-and-butterbeer bottlecap-collage, Tazzy's comforter, and azi's and my blue and green quilts really cheer up the place. We've been eating lots of sweets here lately. I'm now in the mood for something savory, like fish and chips. I wonder where I can get some? ***goes off to find a house-elf (or is it hospital-elf?***)

LOL! Actually, Liz, I am a math teacher. That's the sad part. I just can't seem to keep all the numbers JKR uses in her books straight! Especially since a lot of them change! Ah well!

PAH- the Healers here at St. M's infuse the green jello with stuff that will make you sane. They are trying to get us out of St. M's... **shudders** A while back we staged a riot and managed to get rid of all the Healers. They've somehow managed to come back in and are now passing around the green jello again...

Okay, I'm sure I posted a response yesterday, and yet it doesn't seem to be here.

Guess that means I definitely belong in St, Mungo's!

My guess was that Petunia put the letters in the blender. Random guess. I never remember those tiny details unless I just read the book.

Liz Mann - Jan 11, 2008 12:20 am (#2356 of 2575)

I posted a response too. I said that was correct and you moved forward four spaces.

Azi's question was about how many people Harry saw when he first looked into the mirror. Azi guessed that when he first looked, he saw himself and his parents, and then noticed the rest, so three. I replied that the question was worded awkwardly and that it means first as in when he looked into it in the classroom rather than in the room with Quirrell. I rephrased it, "How many people did Harry see in the mirror?" and am waiting for azi's final answer.

Sorry azi, the answer's ten.

PAH, your turn. What is the recommended cauldron size for first year Hogwarts students?

_____________________________________

Potteraholic - Jan 11, 2008 5:24 pm (#2360 of 2575)

Those healers are a sneaky bunch Tazzy! I wonder if they've started using something else to spike with a sanity potion? ***scrutinizing and smelling a chip sprinkled with vinegar***

Of course, another number question. Hmmm, let's see, I remember it being rather low, (they're just ickle firsties, after all, and can't handle big cauldrons yet) and I want to say 3 because that's a number that seems to have some relevance in these stories, but then I thought what relevance does the size of a cauldron have to anything? And 1 seems too low. So... I'm going to go with 2. And I'm gold. ***hoping this line of thinking got me somewhere and doesn't seem ridiculous in hindsight***

Standard size two is correct, PAH. You got a five and are now tied with azi.

Puck, your question: What curse are Ron and Hermione planning to put on Snape during the second Quidditch match?

I didn't even bother consulting my own chart when I updated it after my turn was done. Just goes to show you what can happen if I try to do anything technical before I've had my first cup of coffee. So, everyone, please disregard the chart in post #2362 and use this chart instead:

Note:

Liz, does PatPat get a new question or does she just answer the one that you asked Puck? PatPat, what do you want to do?

Edited to add: Any Five Worders who are checked into St. Mungo's, here's a note I got from Finn regarding posting the recently completed story: "Sorry -- I've been at school the entire day (and last night too -- slept over). I'll be home tonight and will get everything done if I'm not too exhausted from being at school for 36 straight hours. Feel free to pass this along, just to confirm to everyone I haven't forgotten." Done!

Azi, I'm so sorry, it was Harry who put the fire out with his hat. He was paired with Seamus and Ron with Hermione.

PAH, your turn and your opportunity to take first place: How does Professor McGonagall demonstrate her skills for the first years' Transfiguration class? (First lesson when she gave them the 'talking to'.)

Potteraholic - Jan 18, 2008 8:26 pm (#2395 of 2575)

Okay, let’s see. I know it’s different than what happened in the movie, where McGonagall was a cat sitting on the desk when Harry and Ron walked in late and then she transformed into her tartan-clad self. But that was the movie.

In the book, what did she change into? No, wait, she didn’t transform into anything. She changed her desk into a … pig? I think that’s it. Yeah, I’m pretty sure she changed her desk into a pig and then back into a desk again. McG giving the class the 'talking to'. I love that she doesn’t suffer fools gladly. Go McG!

**bangs head against wall** Is there a way to magically make 1100 words appear to fill 8 pages of writing? *sigh* I have to hand in a draft chapter of my dissertation tomorrow and they gave a limit of 800 words for the first chapter (Introduction and Lit. Review, which I am over as it's just a guide) but you have to hand in at least 8 pages. Even with 2 1/2 pages of references I'm still only on 6!

**continues banging head against wall** (at least I'm in a dreary study, so that the collage won't be ruined. )

_____________________________________

Puck - Jan 21, 2008 2:41 am (#2408 of 2575)

azi - Jan 21, 2008 3:11 am (#2409 of 2575)

Tis true...tis true. I checked with my supervisor it was right! Even if you wrote one of the other chapters, which are around 2000 words, it still doesn't equate to 8 pages! Only half a page to go now (I started on Theory and Methods, lol!). Haven't seen 3am for a while!

Good thing I had a nap with Archie earlier this evening.

Okay, Liz, I'm going to answer the question which you originally asked PatPat, in case you decide to keep it the same. Dudley’s knickerbockers are: orange? I think the whole kit included a maroon coat with tails, a straw hat, and a stick for hitting each other with? I remember thinking ages ago that Gryffindor’s colors of red and gold were very similar to Smelting’s maroon and orange. Gold is my color.

Lol! The avatar is really like a dog version of me a lot of the time. I do tend to slump forward and stare. I'll probably end up needing glasses eventually.

It is indeed Cokeworth, PatPat. You move forward five spaces.

Here's the current positions of the players on the board: PAH is in the lead, just over three-quarters of the way around the board and with thirteen spaces until the end; azi is on the three-quarter point with with sixteen left; PatPat is almost at the halfway point with thirty one spaces left; Puck is just over a quarter of the way with thirty six spaces left.

Azi could still overtake PAH and win the game. And Puck could still overtake PatPat for third place. We'll play until we have a winner.

Puck, your next question: What does Harry not put on his plate at the start-of-term feast?

Puck, I'm with you on that question, Haggis sounded like a good thing to avoid, if you ask me. If the answer is peppermint humbugs, congrats to PatPat for knowing it! I didn't have a clue!

PatPat is right, Puck, it is mint humbugs. Remember, there was a long list of things on the table, including, "for some strange reason, mint humbugs". Harry piles a bit of everything except the humbugs onto his plate.

Azi, your turn. You could overtake PAH for first place.

Fill in the blanks:

”Next morning in Defence Against the Dark Arts, while copying down different ways to treat werewolf bites, Harry and Ron were still discussing what they would do with a Philosopher's Stone if they had one. It wasn't until Ron said he'd _________ that Harry remembered about ______."

You don't need to be word perfect.

I think that Ron said he would make a huge pile of gold, which reminded Harry of the Gringotts vault/break in.

azi, I had no idea what the answer to your question was either. That's 3 questions in a row (PatPat's, Puck's and yours) that I drew a blank on. So it doesn't bode well for me to know the answer to my question coming up next!

He said that he would buy with his own Quidditch team, which reminded Harry of the upcoming match that Snape was going to referee. *hears the groans*

Azi, your question: What is Hagrid doing when Harry, Ron and Hermione run to find him after their exams are finished (when Harry realised about Fluffy)?

_____________________________________

PatPat- Jan 30, 2008 11:55 pm (#2434 of 2575)

Liz, look at the post before yours. Okay, as it's my turn, I'm going to answer the question. Maybe this is movie contamination, but it's all I've got: I think Hagrid is playing some music on a wooden flute and this makes Harry think that it takes music to calm Fluffy. My color is gold.

I'm the one groaning! Sorry, guys, I've completely lost the plot lately. Maybe I should speak to the healers about examining my brain.

And PAH, that is movie contamination. He was shelling peas.

PatPat, I know it is DEFINITELY your turn now. Your question is how much does Harry pay the owl that delivers Hagrid's paper to the hut on the rock?

_____________________________________

PatPat- Feb 1, 2008 12:08 am (#2438 of 2575)

Why oh why???? OK, let' think. I remember the scene vividly. The owl keeps poking Hagrid's jacket. Harry wakes up Hagrid. Hagrid says the owl wants to be paid. Give him _____ of the little bronze ones. How many??? ***sigh*** I'll say 3 knuts and be done with it. ***Goes off to have some hot chocolate for comfort***

**Wakes up with a start & wipes drool off the wall in front of her...**

Woah...nice drawing of Umbridge. Sorry to doze off like that. Wow, what a kink in my neck!

**Notices new muggle professor in the corner mumbling "I've always been able to make even 500 words fill 8 pages"...** Healer, ohhhh Healer... this one needs more lime jello.

The drawing of Ron reminds me of my dream the other night...

OK, I was in some dark old school building, going in & out of rooms with HRH. We were trying to find LV without being found. My wand was, for some reason, a 13 inch piece of bamboo which didn't appear to have anything inside it, but it worked - I just couldn't remember any spells. We ran in & out of rooms, dodging curses & DE's. Harry & Hermione split off leaving Ron & I in a split-level library (amazingly like the SS game) where we had to face Voldemrot. (Oops I meant to type Voldemort, but I think I'll leave it. ) Anyway, I'm pointing my wand at him, the only spell I've been able to remember this whole time is "Stupefy!", but now I have misgivings about its effectiveness. (Um, duh...) I'm getting ready for the green flash, when Ron yells something & LV disappears in a dark puff of smoke. Then he puts his hand on my shoulder & asks if I'm OK. I begin waking from my dream with the thought, "Wow. All this time I've thought I loved Harry, but its really Ron that I love... and it's OK because Harry & Hermione are going to get together."

**Snort, ha,ha,ha,ha,ha!...** Oh my... I can't stop laughing as I remember this. How strange the mind works. Please know that I am not in actuality (whatever that is in St. Mungos) in love with Ron, nor do I think Harry & Hermione would make a nice couple. The bamboo wand on the other hand might fit me well. **Snort, hee, hee!...**

PatPat, it's five knuts. So close! Actually, I'm reading OotP at the moment and Hermione's only paying one knut. Price drop, student discount or J.K. Rowling's terrible head for numbers?

I know this one, because it's one of the piers I hadn't visited in the 3 years I lived in London. (I remember thinking that at the time I first read PS/SS.) It's Blackpool pier and I'm gold. I have been to the piers at Brighton, Margate, Ramsgate, and Walton-on-the-Naze though, for what that's worth!

Timon & Pumba, a comedic pair in the grand tradition of Laurel & Hardy, Abbott & Costello, Bing Crosby & Bob Hope, Lucy & Ethel, French & Saunders and Fry & Laurie. What amazingly funny Muggles, the lot of 'em!

It's been recommended that I take a long walk off a short pier, but I've never been too good at following advice. You have an amazing memory PAH! Anything like visiting The Great Salt Lake & finding a mile of reeking slimy non-beach? They have a taffy shop there, but I can guarantee I wasn't thinking about buying any. A WWW Bubblehead Hat wouldn't have been a bad idea...

LionKing 2 had already been made, & since #3 would have indicated a later time setting, they just called it 1 & 1/2 though it was made after the second movie.

"Darn! Mr. Puck is away, and I was hoping to sneak in a posting spree or two with you in the evening, PAH! Just as well, I guess, as I really need to study for Friday's test, and the distraction would get in the way.

I’m sorry, Puck, but you’ve got the right idea about not needing the distraction. Hope you ace the (aerobics?) test! Looking forward to Five Wording with you next week! Until then....

Puck, I updated my profile with a link - sorry I can't find a free sample, but it is worth every cent, all 99 of them. My mother-in-law played it for her middle-school class, who thought it was one of the best things they ever heard... now you know my mindset - somewhere between toddler & middle-school. Well, it's still one of the best songs I have ever heard and strangely relevant to my life... perhaps an avatar change is in order... By the way... nice 'stache.

PAH, your question: What colour are Dudley's eyes?

_____________________________________

PatPat, this is probably your last question: Harry and Draco first meet where?

Good luck, Puck, with your summer potty plans. I made plans with my first when she started showing interest, only to have her change her mind & wait another year & 1/2. I didn't really mind. Life was crazy then. Now that my second is showing interest & we're about to make another big life change, I'm curious to see how things go. They both have such different personalities (my second is much more independent), but strangely will have similar life upheaval right at the same time. I wonder if Harry or Dudley was potty-trained first. Any trivia answers on that?

Puck - Feb 10, 2008 7:15 pm (#2475 of 2575)

Definitely Harry. I'm not sure Dudders ever did get trained.

Ticker, my 2nd was trained for a whole 6 weeks, then changed her mind for another 6 months.

I don't think it was a kid, and I don't think it was Filch or Snape, because those two would know it was the twins right away and give them a detention. So..., was it Quirrel? So I had another dream... I was with a few other members of the OoP and we were waiting for the "final" confrontation with Voldemort. Many Death Eaters had also shown up. It was mid-afternoon & we knew that Voldemort would not arrive until dark so... we decided to play a quick game of soccer - OoP vs. DE's. There were only 4 of us on the OoP team & our goalie had never played before. The DE's had a full team & were, of course, cheating. Another member of the Order showed up but opted not to play due to a strained back. "Not to worry", I said. "Just save your strength for tonight." ...which got me to wondering why the rest of us weren't doing the same... I mean, didn't the rest of us want to enter a life-or-death battle as fresh as possible? Upon this rational thought, my dream ended & I woke up.

What does it MEAN?!?!?!? Was it just the butterbeer?

Maybe the Death Eaters were deliberately trying to sap the Order's strength. After all they, with their full team, were using less of it than you were. So maybe the dream means that some in your real life is tricking you into weakening yourself.

I suspect the Healers.

Arrrg, but with a bit of magic, it just may sail. Where's that knitting needle?

THanks, PAH.

Let's capture a healer and make them walk the plank.

Apparently you've all been dragged off. I'm sorry I didn't tell you about this secret room. This magazine is really a port-key. You can only find it when you need someplace to hide, otherwise it can't be seen (or tossed away...) It's quite old, let's see,... May 12th, 1973... back before they tightened security around here, I guess. Anyway, it's got a fascinating article on lime jello.

**Snicker...** Nice one PAH.

Puck, I've always assumed the secret room is just on the other side of the bookcase, since the room has an identical display of books all facing backwards... (hmmmmm... that gives me a good idea...) but I really haven't tested the theory. We could go in via magazine, then try and crawl back through to the other side. Would be a shame to leave the mag behind though. We'll have to be stealthy... **knocks out a book-end & an entire row of heavy books tip over...** ...And we'll have to be smart about it too. **...turns around to see a Healer standing behind her...** So, anyway, um, I need to go to my room now.

Happy Belated Birthday Harry!!!!!!!

I didn't make it here but for some reason, I've had HP World dreams this weekend like crazy. Last night I dreamt I was Harry in the final battle with Voldemort, only, instead of being backed up by supporters, I was surrounded by whiners. Another dream from this weekend was I had just taken a teacher's aid position at a Hogwarts Prep School. There were a couple of troubled boys who aspired to be like Voldemort & managed to place a curse on everyone in the class. I woke up wondering how we could get the class together somewhere so we could break the curse & what kind of discipline to give the boys. Since awaking, I've decided that having them wear the auto-spank trousers would be best - or at least would make me feel better.

Hope you all have had a very Harry weekend!

azi - Jun 28, 2008 12:32 pm (#2555 of 2575)

Maybe it's just extremely belated birthday wishes. Probably the Harry Potter day that was planned for the 21st of June?

Woo, parteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! **conjures party poppers and edible rainbow-coloured sugar streamers**

**runs circles around Archie with an extra long streamer to tie his feet up**

THUD. Ooo, he fell down...

Well, I AM a bit off aren't I? June, July, January, whatever - minor details in my life right now I'm afraid. I just can't keep time straight, unless there’s an HP book due to arrive at my doorstep. Then I can tell you the exact count-down. Sigh. I will doubtless be in St Mungo's for longer than expected due to my inability to track time or really, anything else... let's see now what was I saying?

Oh yes, HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY HARRY!!!!!!!!!!!! **(Eats some Poppers & pulls some streamers...)**

(** Steps over Azi (& Archie) who are still munching sugar streamers & are now almost completely covered in butterflies & flowers...**) Maybe we could just let these things spread for the next week & cover over the mashed potatoes, celery & what-not. I think Harry would approve of this "cleaning" style.
