Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XIX)
Welcome to Potty Five Words, Volume XIX! This is a game invented by the Potties, first played in October 2005 on the Harry Potter Lexicon FanFiction Forum on World Crossing. It resided there for 5 years and 12 volumes/threads, then moved over to the Harry Potter Lexicon Forum in July 2010; some Forum members wondered if it could be played on the Main Forum, along with all the other wonderful Potty Games so many of us enjoyed. So, with Kip's approval... the move was made!
And then the whole Harry Potter Lexicon Forum moved, to our new home here on forumotion.com. This is now the second Five Words thread here, and we have settled in quite nicely.
[size=18]* * * * *NOTE: Data about the total time it took to write stories in this volume was not gathered.
Now... back to the game!
The rules of this game are simple: place five words in your post that continue the story told through other members' five words. Strung together, the five words will make a much, much longer story. (You might add another much to that list if some people decide to go on a posting spree, which has been done in the past. )
If you're new to Five Words, or even if you've been playing since since the beginning, take a look at some suggestions Finn (the creator of the Five Words thread on the Harry Potter Lexicon Forum), made at the conclusion of Volume V.
We ask that you please post your five words in bold format. This will help distinguish your addition to the story from other side comments you might make in your post, and help the story posters when they compile the story at the end. The way to do this is by:
— typing a in front of the text you want in bold then after it to unbold anything else you might post.
Enjoy!

As of August 28, 2011, the Five Words Story Archives are complete! These links are all ready for your perusal:
Should you want to travel down Memory Lane and find the first story in which you posted, this link will take you to a chart of this information: * Five Words - Volumes Index *
These Archives are a work in progress in that they will be continually updated as future stories are completed. These Archives contain a multi-volume index of Volumes 1 to 15 (and then beyond), individual volume indexes, and a table that has the stories categorized by topic.
Happy reading!

Story #154
The first day of the holidays for me! Yippee!
I guess it is my turn to start a story now. If I'm correct, we haven't had a "Snapey" story for a while, so maybe it's time to start one!
I've been thinking of rewriting the PS/SS Halloween story from Snape's point of view. What we know from canon is this: While Harry and Ron are busy fighting the troll, Snape, who has been told by Dumbledore to keep an eye on Quirrell, realizes that the troll may be a diversion intentionally created by Quirrell so he hurries to the forbidden corridor, intercepts Quirrell on his way to the Philosopher's Stone, gets attacked by Fluffy and ends up with a wound and limping, yet he gets to the Trio and the troll at the same time as Minerva, taking along Quirrell (who probably goes with him only because he must). The scene has a silent observer, Voldemort, whose presence is known by Quirrell only. In the bathroom, Snape bends over the knocked out troll and gives Harry a piercing look.
My questions are: What happened behind the scenes? How did Snape see the events of that night? And my five words:
The Great Hall was in
... turmoil?

Great idea for a story, Julia.
Congratulations on making it to the holidays! PAH is also on holidays now too, so happy holidays to both of you. Do you have any travel plans Julia?

Thanks, Verity! It was really time to truly finish the school year! (Teaching ended two weeks ago.) Last night was the school's final exam banquet and I got some very nice flowers from the school-leavers. It was good to see those kids once more.
We haven't made any travel plans yet, and it's likely that, due to various reasons, we aren't going anywhere far away this summer. However, we'll make sure we get out of the city as often as we can!

LOL, on the one hand, there were final exams. On the other hand, we had several meetings, we wrote some reports, we did some planning for next year and we sorted out all the books and papers that had accumulated on our desks during the year.

It's nice to have that time at the end of the year to sort stuff out and get a headstart on mentally and physically preparing for the next one.

I've just read A Sneaking Suspicion. On the whole, I think we have written a coherent story with some humorous characters. I agree with Verity's comment that Five Words stories could sometimes use a bit more description - we can pay more attention to that next time. We have found out little of what the League actually does, but the initial assumption was that they do nothing of importance anyway, and perhaps we have managed to convey that.
It was nice to read the relatively long list of participants... *** wishful thinking...***

Yes, it was nice to see a few more old regulars dropping in for that story. I hope some of them will come back.

I wonder whether he can actually see Quirrell going the other way or just has an intuition and decides to check on the forbidden corridor.

Julia, I had meant to write 'realises' as I was imagining the sentence as something like, 'he realises that in all the commotion, Professor Quirrell has disappeared.' However, if at the end of the sentence it seems that 'realised' would fit better, I'm fine with the change.

Oh, OK then. If you think the present tense is correct, I'm fine with it, too.

Well, I'm not convinced if it works in the current sentence. It sounded fine in my head, but with our subsequent words, it would probably be better if we just changed it to past tense.
