her brother, who gaped back
I'd say most of the kids had a good time. To me, it was a stressful time. During the daytime, my students were better and nicer than I had dared to hope, but at night, they broke all the rules that could be broken and gave me rather a shock. I also had to deal with a girl who wanted to go home as soon as we had got off the train on our way there and was actually organizing a "rescue" through her parents (on her mobile phone), just as we were about to board a ship - because she had been offended by some classmates and felt lonely. In the end, she came on board with us, but she was crying. (If she had not stayed with us, I would only have had two things to choose from: either leaving her alone at the port to wait for the person coming to pick her up or leaving the other teacher with her, meaning I would have had to spend most of the first day as the only teacher with all the rest of the class.)
We were in a very nice place, by a beautiful lake, the largest in the country. The trip included a short voyage to a peninsula and a visit to an old abbey church on the top of a hill, a sight-seeing ride in a special sightseeing vehicle in the town and by the lake, some quite substantial walking, the opportunity to play sports outdoors or to just sunbathe, some "team-building" games that we played together and a sightseeing walk. We had had some other plans, too, but only these ones were realized.

It sounds like a really stressful trip Julia! In six weeks I'm taking 17 students to Singapore for 5 days. I"m sure it will be a great trip and I'm looking forward to it, but it's a lot of responsibility!

This was the very phrase that I had been thinking of - it's amazing that you gave me just the right words!
Yes, a school trip is a lot of responsibility, and it's especially difficult with teenagers who consider themselves adults (but are not). I hope your trip will be successful and less stressful than mine!

I have students aged between 11 and 15 on my trip, but a few of the parents are tagging along too, so fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.

My students are aged 16 and 17. *** sigh *** I have a group of Marauders (four boys, just like in HP) among them. I'm glad they aren't Animagi (but perhaps they are ).

LOL. Imagine supervising a Hogwarts school trip!
Strange really, that they never went on a field trip - but if they did - that would be a funny story to write!

- Spoiler:
- Mrs Weasley in HBP: "Its all this uncertainty with You-Know-Who coming back, people think they might be dead tomorrow, so they're rushing all sorts of decisions they'd normally take time over. It was the same last time he was powerful, people eloping left, right, and center..." Perhaps that's what Molly is thinking about now - that there may not be much time left for her and Arthur so they need to hurry.

began kneading her bread dough
- Spoiler:
- I thought it would be good to add a little description. I was picturing Molly kneading this dough really thoroughly while her thoughts were wrestling with these issues. Maybe we could spell it out by having Gideon ask if there was a spell for kneading bread and Molly telling him that it helps her think, or something like that. Or not.
