Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) Empty Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV)

Post  Potteraholic Mon Jun 13, 2011 4:51 pm

Welcome to Potty Five Words, Volume XV! This is a game invented by the Potties, first played in October 2005 on the Harry Potter Lexicon FanFiction Forum on World Crossing. It resided there for 5 years and 12 volumes/threads, then moved over to the Harry Potter Lexicon Forum in July 2010; some Forum members wondered if it could be played on the Main Forum, along with all the other wonderful Potty Games so many of us enjoyed. So, with Kip's approval... the move was made!

And then the whole Harry Potter Lexicon Forum moved, to our new home here on forumotion.com. This is now the second Five Words thread here, and we have settled in quite nicely. Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 2752390508

They will be considerably shorter than WX volumes.

Now... back to the game!

The rules of this game are simple: place five words in your post that continue the story told through other members' five words. Strung together, the five words will make a much, much longer story. (You might add another much to that list if some people decide to go on a posting spree, which has been done in the past. Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 1003735042)

If you're new to Five Words, or even if you've been playing since since the beginning, take a look at some suggestions Finn (the creator of the Five Words thread on the Harry Potter Lexicon Forum), made at the conclusion of Volume V.

We ask that you please post your five words in
bold format. This will help distinguish your addition to the story from other side comments you might make in your post, and help the story posters when they compile the story at the end. The way to do this is by:

— typing a in front of the text you want in bold then after it to unbold anything else you might post.

Enjoy! Smile

Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) Empty Story #138

Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) Crookshanks4

Thanks for your patience, Five Worders... Story #137 is finally up! Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 2752390508 And we're starting Volume XV with story #138!

I liked the horoscopes we thought of for Firenze. They sounded serious and calm, like Firenze. But I think I preferred the zaniness of the ones we wrote for Sybill Trelawney. Some of them were quite hilarious. Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 1003735042

Spoiler:

Please take a few minutes to read Firenze's horoscope and post a quick comment about it.

Okay, moving on from horoscopes — for a brief moment, I considered having this next 'story' be another round of Trelawney's horoscopes — and onto something we tried in January. My avatar probably gives you a hint... that's right! Another installment of 'The Chronicles of Crookshanks'! Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 2222139670 (spoiler #2)

Spoiler:

So, since we wrote a story recently about Harry and Ginny Potter, I thought we could write one about the newly-married Ron and Hermione, told from the perspective of that witty ginger-haired half-feline/half-Kneazle. Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 2752390508 (This was an idea inspired by Hedwig's Log, as written by Mark on 'Mark Reads Harry Potter'.) The time stamp will be part of the five words and will be using military time style.

The story will be preceded by the following words:

DETAIL LOG
CROOKSHANKS
SUBJECT: HERMIONE GRANGER
DATE: 23 JUNE 2002

So, here we go...

1015: HERMIONE ASKS RON TO

Perhaps Ron is going to Diagon Alley ... or to Hermione's parents' place ... or just to their home library.

I enjoyed Firenze's horoscope. For me, it activated some rarely used vocabulary. Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 2752390508

HERMIONE GIVES HIM ONE OF

I agree that Trelawney's horoscopes were more fun to right, as they were very zany and funny. However, I think we did well to rise to the challenge of capturing Firenze's mastery of vague-ness. And I agree with Julia, that it was a good chance to use some interesting vocabulary.

However, there seems to have been a bit of a problem with the posting. Half of Libra is missing! Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 793915934

Ron's got a healthy appetite, and breakfast was a few hours ago, after all. Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 2222139670

I'm inserting a time stamp into the previous post, since there was a passage of time.

Puck, that sure is bang for your buck re: counting a hyphenated word as one word. Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 464751818Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 1003735042

Verity and Julia, thanks for the comments. All are encouraged to make comments, whether you participated in the story or not. Thanks! Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 2752390508

And Verity, thanks for the heads' up re: Libra's missing text. I was trying to get the story up quickly before I had to leave for work. Libra's all complete now. YAY, me for getting the previous story up before the weekend, starting a new thread, and a new story even though school is still crazy busy now! ***patting self on back/tooting my own horn***

A favor... can everyone please write their five words in ALL CAPS? That was the way Mark (of 'Mark Reads Harry Potter' fame) wrote Hedwig's Log, on which 'The Chronicles of Crookshanks' are based. It would be easier for me to compile the story if I didn't have to retype a bunch of five words... copy-and paste is soooo much easier and less time-consuming. Thanks! Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 2752390508 Also, let's not forget to include time stamps to show the passage of time, as this is a log of what Crookshanks is seeing Chez Granger-Weasley. Time can jump, too, as Crooksy liked to nap a lot in the other story. Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 2222139670

Thanks, Verity! Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV) 2752390508 If only there was a spell I could use to post things magically here; alas, it takes some old-fashioned Muggle effort. And now, only 3 days left, and for half of the day for the next two days, non-classroom teachers take classes to the park and the sprinklers so classroom teachers can pack up their rooms, etc. It's sooo helpful, too.
