Choices - Jul 31, 2008 2:04 pm (#361 of 421)

Happy Birthday to Jo and Harry. I preordered my Tales of Beedle the Bard today. Sorry Jo, I could only afford the $7.49 version. **hangs head in shame**

PeskyPixie - Jul 31, 2008 3:38 pm (#362 of 421)

No reason to hang your head in shame, Choices. You helped make the lady rich after all, and now you'll be contributing to whichever charity this book is being published for. Good for you.

Madam Pince - Jul 31, 2008 6:20 pm (#363 of 421)

Ooooh, does that mean she's actually going to explain wandlore? --Anna

Bwahahahaha! ***Falls off chair laughing***

Solitaire - Jul 31, 2008 7:39 pm (#364 of 421)

Yippeeeee! Now, that's a birthday present for all of us!

jose043 - Jul 31, 2008 8:01 pm (#365 of 421)

Oooh Yippeeee! We have purchased a copy of Tales of Beedle the Bard today. Anne and I were naughty a pre-ordered the collectors edition of the book. It is Anne's and my early birthdays present, to us from us to enjoy.

JKR has updated her site at last.

Mrs. Sirius - Aug 10, 2008 8:12 pm (#366 of 421)

It's a Happy Birthday to Ginny. She shares my sister's birthday, thought there was another reason why I liked her!

PeskyPixie - Aug 10, 2008 8:40 pm (#367 of 421)

Happy Birthday, Ginevra! (And Happy Birthday from Orion as well. )

Choices - Aug 11, 2008 6:43 am (#368 of 421)

A very Happy Birthday to Ginny. You lucky girl - what more could a witch want than to be married to Harry Potter?

journeymom - Aug 12, 2008 1:09 pm (#369 of 421)

Oh, darn! Missed it.

Happy Birthday, Ginevra! I'm sure you're the tonic for Harry's soul.

Ha! Get it?? Ginny Tonic. Hehe heh!

Journeymom made a pun.....Ginny Tonic. Clever, very clever. LOL :-)

Caius Iulius - Aug 14, 2008 11:48 pm (#372 of 421)

Wonderful news about another (small) book! I can't wait for film VI either.

Mrs. Sirius - Aug 15, 2008 7:38 am (#373 of 421)

Well, that is now delayed! Not happening until July 2009.

Caius Iulius - Aug 15, 2008 9:45 am (#374 of 421)

Mrs. Sirius and others,

I just heard that Warner Brothers are moving the film IV release date. I am very disappointed. As this is a friendly forum I will not use any bad language, but I feel like swearing a lot . I was so much looking forward to November.

Luckily JKR is giving us a small book to keep us busy to get us through the winter .

Mrs. Sirius - Aug 15, 2008 8:38 pm (#375 of 421)

Yes Caius, but I am actually waiting for her next BIG book! he he he. I have loudly hinted that this little book will make a wonderful birthday gift for mom. If no one picks up the cue, I will make the purchase myself.

PeskyPixie - Aug 16, 2008 10:06 am (#376 of 421)

I am the only great hint-taker in the family, therefore, I took initiative and ordered a copy for myself and one for my best friend ... that's the only way to not be disappointed, I reckon.

Caius Iulius - Aug 16, 2008 10:47 pm (#377 of 421)

Mrs. Sirius,

A big book would be fine with me! One about the happenings of Harry's parents in the first Voldemort-war, when they met Voldemort three times?

Perhaps your children have picked up the clue, but are not letting you know?

PeskyPixie, I have ordered a copy for myself as well.

journeymom - Oct 28, 2008 9:22 am (#378 of 421)

Jo has updated the Daily News entry to mention the launch of Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Anna L. Black - Oct 28, 2008 10:47 am (#379 of 421)

I think I've just pre-ordered myself a great pre-birthday present

legolas returns - Dec 6, 2008 10:50 am (#380 of 421)

It says on JKR site that she has made updates to News and Extra bits but they are not yet visable. She has written something in her pad about Beedle the Bards launch and how she has been really busy.

Thanks, Legolas!

In Extra Stuff, Characters, Spoiler Skull, Harry and Dudley, has that been there for a while? I've never seen it. Very interesting!

And it's Hagrid's Birthday! Fitting that he was born on St. Nicholas' feast day.

Choices - Dec 6, 2008 3:35 pm (#382 of 421)

A very happy birthday to Hagrid and many more to come. Here's to you, Big Guy! **raises glass of elf made wine in salute**

legolas returns - Dec 6, 2008 4:48 pm (#383 of 421)

For some weird reason it contains up to date information but is dated 7th December (its still the 6th here in UK). Don't know what thats all about. Oh well I will go to bed after midnight to see if anything will automatically appear at midnight.

Edit-I have been talking rubbish. I think it must of been from last year. Sorry about that.

PeskyPixie - Feb 11, 2009 12:30 pm (#384 of 421)

Gack! We missed our favourite Potions Master's birthday last month! Happy Birthday, Sev!

TwinklingBlueEyes - Feb 11, 2009 5:59 pm (#385 of 421)

We missed. Hmm, ya'll may have, but I didn't, since it is the same as my hubby's, and they have several remarkable similarities.

Choices - Feb 11, 2009 6:54 pm (#386 of 421)

**No, no, no, I won't ask what they are, I'll just hope they are the same ones that make Snape (Alan Rickman) so appealing.** LOL

Happy Belated Birthday to Snape and Mr. TBE.

Orion - Feb 16, 2009 1:49 pm (#387 of 421)

LOL I'd love to know what they are!

Choices - Feb 16, 2009 7:24 pm (#388 of 421)

Me too, Orion, but don't tell TBE I said so. LOL

TwinklingBlueEyes - Feb 16, 2009 8:44 pm (#389 of 421)

TBE didn't hear that...

Choices - Feb 17, 2009 8:52 am (#390 of 421)

Happy birthday to our favourite Werewolf Remus Lupin

Solitaire - Mar 10, 2009 6:59 am (#395 of 421)

Happy Birthday, Remus!

Choices - Mar 10, 2009 8:02 am (#396 of 421)

Ah, Remus..... I hope this will be just the beginning of many more Happy Birthdays to come. You surely deserve lots of happiness.

Liz Mann - Mar 18, 2009 6:53 am (#397 of 421)

I hope this will be just the beginning of many more Happy Birthdays to come.

Well tecnically it would have been Remus's birthday.

azi - Mar 18, 2009 1:58 pm (#398 of 421)

Liz said what I couldn't bring myself to say... **still in denial**

PeskyPixie - Mar 19, 2009 2:20 pm (#399 of 421)

Surely Remus is celebrating with his friends and family beyond the veil? I'm sure they're having a ball. Still, they could offer Severus a piece of cake, you know ...

legolas returns - Mar 19, 2009 2:24 pm (#400 of 421)

Does he celebrate his birthday (like the living) or deathday (like Nearly Headless Nick)?

It certainly can't be a Deathday celebration if he's not a ghost ... can it?

jose043 - Apr 1, 2009 12:49 am (#402 of 421)

Happy birthday to George and Fred. Suppose Fred is having a excellent time be hind the veil. Hope is enjoying his with the family and friends.

Happy Birthday to Fred and George - my favorite twins. :-)

journeymom - Apr 1, 2009 8:11 am (#405 of 421)

Happy Birthday, Gred and Forge!

No doubt, Fred is on this day making things difficult for St. Peter.

Thom Matheson - Apr 1, 2009 12:14 pm (#406 of 421)

Geez Choices, I thought I was your favorite twin? Course I did not lose my ear for the cause, so I can understand. Nothing un-holey about that I guess. Next time I'll keep my ear to the ground for better clues. Can't blame you though, I hear they are great fun

PeskyPixie - Apr 1, 2009 1:34 pm (#407 of 421)

Happy Birthday, Gred and Forge!

Choices - Apr 1, 2009 6:39 pm (#408 of 421)

HungarianHorntail11 - Jul 4, 2009 3:02 pm (#411 of 421)

Did anyone notice that Peeves no longer comes and tips over the pen cup?

azi - Jul 5, 2009 3:06 am (#412 of 421)

I haven't been on the site for ages, so I wouldn't know! There haven't been any updates for ages, have there?

HungarianHorntail11 - Jul 5, 2009 11:11 am (#413 of 421)

Not from what I can tell, azi. I only just visited the site for the first time in a while (which showed up as first time on my current computer), so I got to do the extras over again.

azi - Jul 5, 2009 11:34 am (#414 of 421)

Ooo, exciting! That could be one up-side to getting a new computer.

HungarianHorntail11 - Jul 5, 2009 1:03 pm (#415 of 421)

Yes, definitely, although it is technically a refurb. Friends who have crashes buy new ones and give their old ones to me and I fix them. "New" to us, for sure.

I noticed that you can spin the time-turner and it sends the door back. I wish it would send you to what was behind that door at the specific dates during the times it was open. It was fun getting the little surprises when the door finally opened!

I wonder if JKR ever gets tired of those of us who keep asking for more even after the series has been finished.

Hieronymus Graubart - Jul 6, 2009 2:31 am (#416 of 421)

Arrgh! I also have to redo the extras. Do you say this is impossible because Peeves doesn't appear? Next time I will remember to save my cookies.

If you want to see what was behind the door at a specific date, you have to redo the riddle for this date. At least this worked for me when I (long ago) realized that a time-turner had appeared near the door.

Solitaire - Jul 6, 2009 4:23 pm (#417 of 421)

Ah, that explains why I've had to do certain things over again. I had a crash in the spring, and I had to completely reformat. I lost all cookies, I'm sure!

John Bumbledore - Jul 9, 2009 2:14 pm (#418 of 421)

I wish it would send you to what was behind that door at the specific dates during the times it was open. (HH11)
Well, H.G. is correct. The time turner stops at dates where there was a "door opening" you just have to remember how to do it or peak at the Lexicon sections for Jo's site for hints. Remember the Brick wall? Then remember the number 31245. Now, if you set the date on the room of requirement, can you go to the other rooms to pick up the needed clues? One used the bulitin board with a card for gobblin to get the numbers for one door opening.

Yes, if want to try your hand at all the secret prizes then clear your cookies and close your browser then revisit Jo's site.
(I think twelve is the last count, but I may have forgotten to update my memory. )

One door open date has a key hidden in the wind chime, another has hidden decorations!

What do you remember from the hidden clues to open the doors?

--John

Hoot Owl - Aug 23, 2009 10:32 pm (#419 of 421)

I haven't seen it noted here, there are some changes on JKR's site. The diary has been changed and there are new links along with new books on the Links page. Just thought you would like to know.

journeymom - Aug 24, 2009 10:33 am (#420 of 421)

Hmmm. Off to check her web site.

Liz Mann - Aug 24, 2009 12:12 pm (#421 of 421)

Yeah, I saw that. Good idea, put all the stuff that journalists may want to know in one official place. I hope she'll do more with the website though.
