I tend to select trivia to which I know the answer. However, this is one quiz where I would not have been able to achieve full marks on any of the questions without a copy of OotP opened to the correct chapter in front of me. So, I commend you all for doing better than I ever could at my own quiz! I've awarded half points wherever an answer is close, but not completely accurate.
First DA Meeting

=>nobody; Zacharias Smith puts his hand up 'half-heartedly', but he still does it; yes, it is a 'pesky question'

Congrats, Swedish Short-Snout. You're not a descendant of Rowena Ravenclaw, are you? Looking forward to your trivia!
BTW, Anna, Elanor, PatPat and freshwater, Prof. Pixie feels that your identical results are proof that you have cheated off of one another's papers and that had she been the examiner you would all be in detention!

Portraits in the Wizarding World - Answers
1. What is the name of the Fat Lady's friend? (1 point) Violet
2. Name all of the famous wizards whose pictures appear on Harry's Chocolate Frog cards during the train ride in PS/SS? Which two cards is Ron missing? (1/2 point each) Harry gets Dumbledore, Morgana, Hengist of Woodcroft, Alberic Grunnion, Circe, Paracelsus, Merlin, and the Druidess Cliodna. Ron is missing Agrippa and Ptolemy. Note that this was a two part question, and if someone correctly named a card that was in that scene, but placed it in the wrong group (e.g. correctly naming Agrippa, but saying it was one of the cards Harry got instead of one Ron needed), I only gave them a quarter-point.
3. Whose portrait is attached by a permanent sticking charm? (1 point) Mrs. Black was the answer I was looking for; I'd forgotten about the painting in the PM's office in HBP1, so I counted that as correct too.
4. Which former headmaster or headmistress's portrait also hangs in the Ministry of Magic? Into whose portrait does he/she run in order to get a better view of Mr. Weasley the night of his attack? (2 points) This one is Everard, and the portrait he runs into is that of Elfrida Clagg (some editions have a typo and give the name as Elfrida Cragg; I accepted both answers.)
5. Where, apart from Hogwarts, does Dilys Derwent's portait hang? (1 point) St. Mungos
6. Where did Harry first encounter Sir Cadogan's portrait? (1 point) On his way up to North Tower when he's trying to find Divination class in PoA.
7. Where can one find a painting of a sleeping mermaid? (1 point) The Prefects' Bathroom
8. Where did Filch finally find the Fat Lady after she was attacked by Sirius Black? (1 point) In a map of Argyllshire on the second floor. I would have given half-credit just for knowing it was a map of some kind, but I don't think anybody got that much right without knowing the full answer.
9. Which former headmaster's portrait says "The ministry did not cut deals with petty criminals in my day"? (1 point) Dexter Fortescue
10. Behind whose portrait lies the passage from the Hog's Head into Hogwarts? (1 point) Ariana Dumbledore
11. Who tore off part of the photograph of Harry's parents in Sirius's bedroom? Why? (1 point for character, 1 point for explanation) Snape, because he wanted the part that had Lily, but he didn't want James in the picture.
12. What does the Fat Lady demand to have for her protection when she returns to guard the Gryffindor portrait hole after Sirius Black's second break-in? (1 point) Two security trolls
Bonus: Why can't Phineas Nigellus bring Dumbledore into his portrait when Hermione asks him to in DH? (1 point) Because occupants of portraits can only move to other portraits in the same building or to a portrait of themselves hanging elsewhere. Since this was a bonus, I gave a full point to the people who gave a full explanation of the rules and half-credit to the people who gave a partial explanation.
Congratulations, Anna! The next trivia is yours.

OK, it is time for the new quiz! We all seem to like quote quizzes, so here is one:
The Minor Character Quote Quiz
Give the full name of the speaker of the following quotes (none of which will be Harry, Ron, or Hermione) as well as the book from which they came. Some are easier than others!

2) "Cool, sir!"
3) "His sister didn’t really try. . . . She gave him an easy save."
4) "Oh, I see . . . This is no cowardly flight - you are being noble."
5) "Convenient? . . . I’m afraid I don’t understand you, Moody."
6) "Looks more like a Stinging Jinx to me."
7) "Just because a wizard doesn't use Dark Magic doesn't mean he can't, Miss Pennyfeather."
8) "Sit down, you silly little girl, and don't talk about things you don’t understand"
9) " - you think I want to be a - a freak?"

Hufflepuff Quiz - Answers
1. What is the first mention of Hufflepuff in PS/SS? Who mentions it, and in what context? (2 points) Draco Malfoy in PS/SS Chapter 5, saying he'd leave if he were in Hufflepuff. I gave 1 point for mentioning Malfoy, and a second point for mentioning the "I think I'd leave" bit or something similar (just saying it was about Hogwarts houses wasn't enough).
2. Name three virtues/qualities associated with Hufflepuff House (1/2 point each). The Sorting Hat names the following: just, loyal, patient, true, hard-working (which I consider the same as "unafraid of toil"). Unfortunately, many people listed other qualities that, while not specifically mentioned by the Sorting Hat, are most likely also characteristic of most Hufflepuffs, and I realize now that I should have been clearer about asking for the virtues specifically mentioned by the Sorting Hat. So in the end, I just gave credit for anything that was in the right ballpark. And I'm sorry about giving you such an ambiguous question.
3. According to the Sorting Hat in GoF, from where did Helga Hufflepuff originate? (1 point) Hufflepuff was from "valley broad." Half-credit to anyone who just said it was a valley.
4. Which Hufflepuff was a victim of the Basilisk in CoS? Who else was petrified at the same time? (2 points) Justin Finch-Fletchley was the victim; Nearly-Headless Nick was petrified at the same time.
5. Which member of the Order of the Phoenix, according to JKR in interviews, was a Hufflepuff? (1 point) Nymphadora Tonks
6. Who is the only character in the series who is identified as a direct descendant of Helga Hufflepuff? (As far as I know, there is only one.) (1 point) Hepzibah Smith (one person described the character without giving her name; I gave him/her a half-point.
7. Who became Hufflepuff Seeker after Cedric's death? (1 point) Summersby (no first name given), who played the position in OotP, is the only post-Cedric Hufflepuff Seeker mentioned in the books. A lot of people said Zacharias Smith, but as far as I know, Smith only ever played Chaser.
8. How many points did Hufflepuff have at the end-of-term feast in PS/SS? (1 point) 352 (I had to look this one up myself.) I gave half-credit to anyone who was within 10 points in either direction.
9. Name three Hufflepuff members of the DA. (1/2 point each) Hannah Abbott, Susan Bones, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Ernie Macmillan, Zacharias Smith
10. Name two known Hufflepuffs who were killed during the series or in flashbacks (I know of at least three). (1/2 point each) I counted Cedric Diggory, Nymphadora Tonks, Hepzibah Smith (technically never identified as a Hufflepuff, as several people pointed out, but I accepted it anyway, as there is very strong evidence in canon for it.) I did NOT accept Bertha Jorkins, as her being a Hufflepuff is purely speculation.
Grades
11.5-13: Outstanding
9.5-11: Exceeds Expectations
7-9: Acceptable
4.5-6.5: Poor
2-4: Dreadful
0-1.5: Troll
Congratulations, SSS! The baton goes back to you. Will we get Ravenclaw or Gryffindor next? Or something different entirely?

Answers, at last!
Ravenclaw Trivia
1. How do you get into Ravenclaw's common room? The full answer from the lexicon: The door has neither handle nor keyhole, but a talking bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle. Rather than asking for a conventional password, the knocker will ask a question; if answered correctly, the knocker will compliment the person on the answer and the door will swing open. I gave 1 pt. for knowing you had to answer a question/riddle, and another point for those who mentioned the knocker.
2. What are the house's colours? Blue and Bronze. 1 point.
3. How many points did Ravenclaw get in the end of PS/SS? 426. 1 point for correct answer, 0.5 a point for those who were very close (416-436).
4. What is the inscription on Ravenclaw's diadem? "Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure". 1 point.
5. The rumor has it that Filius Flitwick was a Ö Dueling champion in his youth. 1 point.
6. Whom did Moaning Myrtle haunt after her death, and why? Olive Hornby, to make her pay for teasing her. 2 points.
7. Which Ravenclaw was a victim of the Basilisk in COS, and who else was petrified at the same time? Penelope Clearwater along with Hermione Granger. 2 points.
8. Name three magical creatures Luna Lovegood believes in. Some options: Crumple-Horned Snorkack, Blibbering Humdinger, Nargles, Wrackspurt. 1 point for each creature - you didn't have to spell them exactly right
9. Name a Ravenclaw student that has a sibling in another house. While you're at it, name the sibling and the sibling's house, as well. Padma Patil, Parvati Patil, Gryffindor. 3 points
O - 15-16
E - 13-14
A - 10-12
P - 7-9
D - 4-6
T - 0-3
Looks like we don't need that tie-breaker question, after all. And, more on the positive side - everyone passed the quiz! Ice cream on the house for everybody, please, PAH.

Gryffindor Quiz: Answers
1. How many points did Gryffindor have at the end of PS/SS before Dumbledore added his last minute points? How many did they have after? (1/2 point each) To whom were the final points awarded to give Gryffindor the House Cup? (1 point) 312 points before, 482 points after (half-credit for anyone who was within 5 in either direction; the final points were awarded to Neville.
2. Whom does Griphook claim Godric Gryffindor's sword was stolen from? (1 point) Ragnuk the First (1/2 point for anyone who just identified it as a goblin, 3/4 for Solitaire who said "the Goblin Ragnok" but omitted "the First")
3. Apart from the sword, what other object is identified in canon as a Gryffindor artifact? (1 point) The Sorting Hat
4. Give the full roster (names and positions) of the Gryffindor Quidditch team in Books 1 through 3. Name three more students (with positions) who played on the team in later years (players can be regular or alternate). (1/2 point each; 1/4 point for right name but wrong position) Gryffindor Quidditch team in Books 1-3: Harry Potter (Seeker); Angelina Johnson, Alicia Spinnet, Katie Bell (Chasers); Fred and George Weasley (Beaters), Oliver Wood (Keeper). For the second part of the question, the following are valid answers: Ron Weasley (Keeper); Ginny Weasley (Chaser and Seeker); Demelza Robins (Chaser), Dean Thomas (Chaser), Andrew Kirke (Beater), Jack Sloper (Beater), Jimmy Peakes (Beater), Ritchie Coote (Beater), Cormac McLaggen (Keeper). I did NOT accept Harry or anyone else from the earlier "dream team" for this part of the question, because the question was about NEW players on the team, but since I didn't really make that clear, I gave 1/4 point for such players.
5. What was Harry's very first Gryffindor password? (1 point) Caput Draconis
6. How many times was Nearly-Headless Nick hit in the head with a blunt axe? (1 point) What is Nick's full name (spelling counts)? (1/2 point) 45 times; Sir Nicholas de Mimsy Porpington (1/4 for right name but misspelled)
7. Name four known residents of Godric's Hollow. (1/2 point each) James Potter, Lily (Evans) Potter, Harry Potter, Albus Dumbledore, Ariana Dumbledore, Aberforth Dumbledore, Kendra Dumbledore (note: Percival Dumbledore is NOT valid because the Dumbledores did not move to GH until after Percival was in Azkaban), Gellert Grindelwald, Bathilda Bagshot, Enid Smeek, Bowman Wright, Ignotus Peverell, Godric Gryffindor
8. Which three Horcruxes were destroyed using Gryffindor's sword? Who destroyed them? (1/2 point each; 1/4 point for right Horcrux but wrong person) Marvolo's Ring (Albus Dumbledore), Slytherin's Locket (Ron Weasley), Nagini (Neville Longbottom)
9. J. K. Rowling honored a real-life girl who had died in childhood by giving her name to a new Gryffindor student. What was the girl's name? (1 point) In which book was the character included? (1/2 point) Natalie MacDonald, GoF
10. Name three forms that the Boggart took during Lupin's first DADA class in PoA. For which students/characters did the Boggart take those forms? (1/2 point each; 1/4 point for right form but wrong character) Professor Snape (Neville Longbottom), a mummy (Parvati Patil), a banshee (Seamus Finnigan), a severed hand (Dean Thomas), a giant spider (Ron), the full moon (Remus Lupin). The boggart also took on three other forms during this scene (a rat, a rattlesnake, and a bloody eyeball) which were not associated with particular students (or the students they were associated with weren't identified). I did NOT count Harry's dementor-boggart, as it didn't appear during that first class.
11. Which one of the Marauders was a Prefect during their fifth year? Which one went on to become Head Boy? (1/2 point each) Remus Lupin was Prefect, James Potter was Head Boy
12. Name six Gryffindors who died at some point in the series (including flashbacks). (1/2 point each) James Potter, Lily (Evans) Potter, Sirius Black, Albus Dumbledore, Peter Pettigrew, Fred Weasley, Remus Lupin, Colin Creevey
Congratulations, PatPat. The next quiz is yours. And congratulations, everybody! People REALLY know their Gryffindors well. Could this be the first quiz EVER where nobody got less than an E? Well done!

Attention All Students: As we all know, student performance in Geography is declining. This is extremely worrying as the risk of Splinching is 90% greater when Apparating to an unknown or misunderstood destination. Therefore, the Ministry of Magic has announced that, before taking their Apparition test, all students must pass a basic test of Wizarding Geography.
Important Places in Harry Potter
For each question, give the place being described as well as the book from which it came.
1) According to the magazine, The Quibbler, Doris Purkiss believes that Sirius Black is actually Stubby Boardman of the singing group The Hobgoblins. Where is Purkiss from? (You must give the street and the city)
2) Rubeus Hagrid, carrying baby Harry Potter on a flying motorcycle, is flying over this city when the baby falls asleep.
3) Ron Weasley announces to Harry Potter that his favorite Quidditch team hails from this city, though they are ninth in the league.
4) Ron Weasley tells Harry Potter that there is a shop in Hogsmeade that sells Magical instruments. What is it called?
5) Arthur Weasley must take care of exploding toilets in three different cities. Name one.
6) Harry Potter and Hermione Granger camp here, where Harry finds the sword of Gryffindor in a pond and is rescued by Ron Weasley.
7) Harry Potter's uncle, Vernon Dursley, works for this firm.
8) The night Tom Marvolo Riddle kills his father and grandparents, the villagers gather at a local pub to discuss it. What is the name of the pub?
9) Marjorie Dursley, sister of Harry Potter's Uncle Vernon, goes on holiday at a resort and sends a postcard to her brother and his family the same day Harry receives his first Hogwarts letter. Where is she vacationing?
10)Tom Riddle's relatives, the Gaunts, live in a house on a hillside overlooking a village. What is the name of the town?
Good luck, everyone! Note: if you can discern the pattern, it may help, though be careful!

OK, everyone! Here are the answers and the results to the latest quiz! A couple of technical comments. First, I gave 2 points per question. 1 for the correct place and 1 for the correct book. On question #10, I gave 1/2 a point if you said GoF for the book. Although the village was mentioned in GoF, the question specifically asks about the Gaunts, who were not introduced until HBP. So, without further ado, here are the answers and results:
Important Places in Harry Potter
For each question, give the place being described as well as the book from which it came.
1) According to the magazine, The Quibbler, Doris Purkiss believes that Sirius Black is actually Stubby Boardman of the singing group The Hobgoblins. Where is Purkiss from? (You must give the street and the city) 18 Acanthia Way, Little Norton (OoP)
2) Rubeus Hagrid, carrying baby Harry Potter on a flying motorcycle, is flying over this city when the baby falls asleep. Bristol (PS/SS)
3) Ron Weasley announces to Harry Potter that his favorite Quidditch team hails from this city, though they are ninth in the league. Chudley (CoS)
4) Ron Weasley tells Harry Potter that there is a shop in Hogsmeade that sells Magical instruments. What is it called? Dervish and Banges (PoA)
5) Arthur Weasley must take care of exploding toilets in three different cities. Name one. Elephant and Castle, Wimbledon, and Bethnal Green (OoP) I, obviously, accepted all three, but the italicized one is the one that fits the pattern.
6) Harry Potter and Hermione Granger camp here, where Harry finds the sword of Gryffindor in a pond and is rescued by Ron Weasley.Forest of Dean (DH)
7) Harry Potter's uncle, Vernon Dursley, works for this firm. Grunnings (PS/SS) (megfox*, I gave you half a point for "Grundlings" )
8) The night Tom Marvolo Riddle kills his father and grandparents, the villagers gather at a local pub to discuss it. What is the name of the pub? The Hanged Man (GoF) (I gave half a point for "Hanging Man")
9) Marjorie Dursley, sister of Harry Potter's Uncle Vernon, goes on holiday at a resort and sends a postcard to her brother and his family the same day Harry receives his first Hogwarts letter. Where is she vacationing? The Isle of Wight!! (PS/SS) (It was Petunia's fiend, Yvonne, who went to Majorca, not Aunt Marge!)
10)Tom Riddle's relatives, the Gaunts, live in a house on a hillside overlooking a village. What is the name of the town? Little Hangleton (HBP)
Well, well, well. The Slytherin gets a perfect score on the Gryffindor's quiz!! Well done, my friend! Look forward to your next quiz. Good job, everyone!
Oh, and by the way, in case you missed it, the pattern was alphabetical! I left off J and K because there were no good place names that I thought people would actually know!

Finally!!
Trivia: The Ministry of Magic - Answers
1. Name, in order, the five most recent Ministers of Magic (1/2 point each) Millicent Bagnold, Cornelius Fudge, Rufus Scrimgeour, Pius Thickness, Kingsley Shacklebolt
2. Name three Ministry departments along with their last known heads (1/2 point each) Magical Games and Sports: Ludo Bagman; International Magical Cooperation: Barty Crouch; Magical Law Enforcement: Pius Thicknesse (as far as I know, there is no proof in canon that Yaxley was ever head of this department, even though he certainly seems to be acting in that capacity in DH, and as for Hermione, JKR only says she worked, not that she was ever the head). Since there seemed to be some confusion between a department and an office, I also accepted the following answers: Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office: Arthur Weasley; Auror Office: Harry Potter or Gawain Robards (I accepted both because Robards is the last head of the Auror Office mentioned in the books themselves; no, it's not Rufus Scrimgeour, by the way). I did not give credit to people who just gave me department names, because the question was about matching departments with their heads. Sorry for any confusion about that.
3. What number does one have to dial to get into the visitors' entrance to the Ministry? (1 point) 62442, which spells "magic" on a standard telephone
4. Name two people who have been head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at some point in time. (1/2 point each) Amelia Bones, Pius Thicknesse (see above regarding Yaxley and Hermione)
5. Who in the Ministry, according to Ron, always wears navy blue robes? (1 point) Magical Maintenance (half-credit to anyone who just said "the maintenance people."
6. What does the Ministry use for interdepartmental memos? What did they originally use, and why did they stop using it? (2 points) Paper airplanes (aeroplanes). They used to use owls, but the droppings made a terrible mess.
7. Name the three Ministry members that Harry, Ron, and Hermione impersonated during their raid on the Ministry in DH. How did they incapacitate each one of them? (3 points) Harry: Albert Runcorn, Nosebleed Nougat; Ron: Reg Cattermole, Puking Pastille (yes, I needed to know which of Fred and Georges sweets they used; just saying "Skiving Snackbox" wasn't enough); Hermione: Mafalda Hopkirk, Stunning Spell
8. Name four rooms in the Department of Mysteries. (1/2 point each) Time Room, Hall of Prophecy, Brain Room, Death Chamber (Veil Room), Planet Room, Love Room (the one with the locked door), office (the one that Harry, Hermione, and Neville were chased into in OotP), rotating circular room
9. What are the three divisions of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures? (1 point) Beast, Being, and Spirit Divisions (needed all three to get credit)
10. Whose office is raining in DH? What spell does Mr. Weasley suggest that Ron use to remedy the problem? (2 points) Yaxley, Meteolojinx Recanto
11. What new office, created by Scrimgeour, is Arthur Weasley made the head of in HBP? (1 point) Office for the Detection and Confiscation of Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects (only one person really got the gist of this one; I gave him/her full credit. People who at least said something about confiscation got half-credit.
12. Okay ... Azi and Elanor both say they think it is time, so I'll post the answers and results.
Fantastic Beasts Quiz
How is a Basilisk bred? (1 pt.)
A chicken's egg hatched beneath a toad. (COS, ch 16)
Which beast lures travelers into bogs? (1 pt.)
Hinkypunk
What prevented Fleur from reaching her hostage in the second Triwizard task? (1 pt.)
Grindylow
What creatures picked up Neville by the ears in CoS? (1 pt.)
Cornish Pixies
What creature did Lee Jordan put into Umbridge's office (1 pt.), and why did it attack her (1 pt.)?
Nifflers ... they like shiny things and tried to bite the rings off her stubby fingers.
Why did Luna think it was a good idea to move away from the mistletoe in the RoR? (1 pt.)
It was probably infested with Nargles.
During their Care of Magical Creatures O.W.L., the kids had to correctly identify the knarl hidden among a dozen hedgehogs. How do they do it, and why does the method work? (2 pts.)
They offer it milk. Knarls are extremely suspicious and think they are being poisoned, so they go wild.
Hermione used the skin of this African snake to make the Polyjuice potion in CoS. (1 pt.)
Boomslang skin.
What pest infested the draperies in the drawing room of 12 GP? (1 pt.)
Doxies, or biting fairies.
How do Unicorns change from birth to maturity? (4 pts.)
They are pure gold as foals. Around 2, they change to silver, at 4 they sprout horns, and at 7 they are mature and turn pure white.
The total worked out to 15 points. Since I am a teacher who is used to spelling errors and "partially correct" answers, I tried to be generous and give as much credit as possible to everyone. If you feel I did not count you properly, I am willing to reconsider. (Can you tell I'm used to getting flack from my students?)
According to my calculations, Swedish Short Snout wins! Congratulations!

Okay, I finally finished putting the quiz together! I know, I know, I went a little overboard! But I figured, you folks are a clever bunch, and know lots of spells, so I made the quiz a bit longer than usual just for a bit of an extra challenge. Good luck!
(I expect there will be lots of high marks, so spelling really will be the deciding factor here.) Also, the wording for all the spells come directly from the Lexicon's 'Encyclopedia of Spells'.
'How Well Do You Know Your Spells?' Quiz
Name the spell that produces the effect listed in each question. 1 point each. Spelling counts, as it will be the deciding factor in case a tie-breaker is needed.
What's the spell that...
1. ... turns the target object into a Portkey?
2. ... clears the target's airway, if blocked?
3. ... cuts something open?
4. ... cleans things?
5. ... converts the target object into a smooth slide?
6. ... creates a burning, fiery line in the air which can be "drawn" with the wand into specific shapes? The shape lingers for some time.
7. ... opens the secret door in the statue of the hump-backed witch?
8. ... forces the victim's legs to do a crazy dance?
9. ... reveals human presence in the target area?
10. ... turns the target object to stone?
11. ... stops an object or slows it down?
12. ... makes invisible ink become visible?
13. ... makes something waterproof or water repellent?
14. ... sends thick ropes out of thin air to wrap around someone or something?
15. ... starts a fire?
16. ... is used to identify the ingredients of the target potion or the enchantments on a target object?
17. ... dangles the target person upside-down by the ankle in mid-air?
18. ... moves an object? Typically, the spell word " ? " is followed by a target word, which is the object to be moved.
19. ... causes a small beam of light to shine from the end of the caster's wand?
20. ... moves a body?
21. ... fills the ears of target persons near the caster with an unidentifiable buzzing, so that the caster can hold lengthy conversations without being overheard?
22. ... heals/repairs damage that has been inflicted on the target?
23. ... conjures a bouquet of flowers out of the end of a wand?
24. ... creates a magical barrier that will deflect hexes thrown at the caster?
25. ... releases a jet of fiery sparks? Underwater, this spell fires a jet of boiling water.

Edit: Hmmm... no one's tried this quiz in almost a day. Maybe I made this quiz too challenging?

Okay... decided to have an early night to be well-rested for my school overnight trip, so am posting these results early on a Wednesday morning here in New York.
Thank you to all those who took part in this quiz. I know if I took this quiz myself, I would have received the lowest marks, without a doubt! I was amazed by how well you folks knew your spells, though some movie contamination did creep into some of your answers. (I know it would have done in mine, had I taken this quiz!) Here are the answers, followed by some notes about the scoring and answers, followed by the scores themselves.

25. Releases a jet of fiery sparks? Underwater, this spell fires a jet of boiling water? Relashio
This quiz was harder to score than I thought it would be! Not only was there spelling to consider, but the issue of whether there could be 2 answers for one question. So... if your answer was correct and spelled exactly the way it was spelled in the Lexicon, it received a 1.1. The highest score possible was: 25 Q's x 1.1 = 27.5. If it was correct and missing or had an extra letter (or 2 sometimes), it received a 1. If it was correct, with more than 3 spelling discrepancies, it received a .75. And if it was somewhat correct, it received a .5. You can check these links, Results #1 and Results #2, to see how I assessed your answers.
I realized that Question #4 could have 2 possible answers, Scourgify and Tergeo. In the Lexicon, the wording for Scourgify is "cleans things" and the wording for Tergeo is "cleans up the target object or person." So I decided both worked. For Question #10, the spell, Petrificus Totalus does not turn objects to stone, as many of you thought, but "turns the entire body of the victim rigid." Question #12 was the trickiest question; Aparecium... huh? For Question #22 Reparo, "undoes damage to an object", it does not specifically "heal/repair damage that has been inflicted on the target." The examples listed in the Lexicon seem to indicate that 'the target' needs to be a human, since Tonks used it to repair Harry's broken nose (HBP8) and Harry used it to repair Demelza's bleeding mouth after Ron accidentally punched her during Quidditch practice (HBP14).
For anyone who wants to look up the answers for themselves, have fun exploring 'The Encyclopedia of Spells'.
Well done, everyone! And, congratulations, MAMS! This is your first quiz, and you received the highest marks! Your prize is to create the next quiz! Have fun!

Okay, first off I didn't win the last trivia because I'm an HP 'insufferable know-it-all' but because since I got back online a few months ago I've spent nearly every waking hour on the Lex! So, there you go. It was all fresh in my mind and having one topic made it easier, actually, having just poured over the spells segment.
That said, I've made this trivia quiz *random* and not theme-oriented. Might make it easier for some questions, but not others... Oh, and the colours are purely for enjoyment, no clues hidden in it except that they are coded to the progression of the books (red=book 1, orange=book 2, etc.). JKR has spoken of *7* being mystical and I surely agree, and what's more mystical than a rainbow?
Here's the scoop -- 15 questions: 2 from each book, each worth 1 point but #7 and #12 only 1/2 point each as apparently there were recently used on a quiz... Then there is 1 bonus question at the center which goes beyond all the books, is in ivory, and worth 2 points as the question has 2 answers.
Just give a holler if you need me. Here we go...
1. What is the last word of the Hogwarts school song?
2. How much was Arthur fined by MoM for bewitching his car?
3. Where is Percy's Head Boy badge in the Weasley Egypt-holiday photo?
4. How many cakes did Harry receive on his 14th birthday?
5. (Ironically) What rune did Hermione tell Ron she confused with "Partnership" in her Ancient Runes OWL exam (in English)?
6. What type of flowers did Tom Riddle bring to Hepzibah Smith?
7. What was Kingsley’s name on Potterwatch?
8. Where was the train’s destination that JKR was riding when Harry Potter fell into her lap, and how long did it take before she began writing?
9. What does Harry notedly admire Sirius having the nerve to keep in his room at #12GP?
10. When DD and Harry find Slughorn at his hideout, where had the Muggle homeowners gone on holiday?
11. What was the garnish in Hermione’s drink at the “Harry interview” meeting with Rita in The Three Broomsticks?
12. Which DE that Karkaroff names during his trial took a bit of Moody’s nose?
13. What is Severus’s last word before getting knocked out (as opposed to killed )in the Shrieking Shack?
14. What did Professor Sprout say is the sign of the fully matured Mandrakes?
15. What colour wax is the seal on the envelope of Harry’s first Hogwarts letter?
Best of luck and have fun!!* answers below *

Results on this quiz were generally abysmal; most students failed to hand in their papers. Had this been your P.Y.G.M.Y.P.U.F.F. you would have scored in negative numbers. You will be sitting an important exam this summer, and those dunderheads who lower the high average I have come to expect from my P.Y.G.M.Y.P.U.F.F. students, will suffer my displeasure. You have been warned.
Odds and Ends from Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 1
1. Which of Harry's school items does Uncle Vernon keep locked up for the summer? (5 points) =>spellbooks, wand, robes, cauldron, broomstick (Nimbus 2000)
2. What colour is Vernon's hair? (1 point) =>Black (who knew?!)
3. What false magic spells does Harry use to scare Dudley? (3 points) =>"Jiggery Pokery, Hocus Pocus, Squiggly Wiggly"
4. Name the Dursleys' dinner guests. (1 point) =>the Masons
5. What does Aunt Petunia cook for her dinner party? (2 points) =>joint of roast pork, something topped with whipped cream and sugared violets for dessert/pudding
6. What does Harry eat for supper that same night? (3 points) =>two slices of bread and a lump of cheese
7. What colour are Dobby's eyes? (1 point) =>green
8. Which part of his magical life does Harry not miss, even when desperately homesick for his life at Hogwarts? (1 point) =>Professor Severus Snape
9. What does Harry congratulate Dudley for, out in the garden? (1 point) =>"Well done ... So you've finally learned the days of the week."
10. What items does Vernon rush to pick up before his guests arrive? (2 points) =>dinner jackets for himself and Dudley
Well done, Soli. It's all yours!

7. "Missing your half-breed pal? ... "missing the elephant man?" Draco Malfoy, GOF, Rita Skeeter's Scoop

9. "Come on, Ron, you were always saying how boring Scabbers was.,"...."And he's been off-colour for ages, he was wasting away. It was probably better for him to snuff it quickly. One swallow- he probably didn't feel a thing." Fred, POA, Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw
10. "...and Eric Whalley's oozing all over his sheets- chicken pox on top of everything else,"... Mrs. Cole, HBP, The Secret Riddle
I was very strict, giving marks only for the name of the person and not descriptions, and not giving points for the correct answer Fred to #9 if George was offered as an alternative.
Elanor and Pesky both have the highest score of 8. Well done! Which of you is going to do the next quiz?
