6. Is it a wizard/witch that has it or uses it? Yes, he/she has it; but I can't say it is something that is used.
7. Do we see this thing at Hogwarts? Yes and no. It does eventually wind up there, but I don't believe we ever see it; we just know it's there.

17. Is this thing seen in more than one book? No.
18. Is this tangible thing that we don't actually see at Hogwarts only know it is there something that can be seen by people when the person who has it walks about the place dressed in the usual way? Could it be seen? I'm not sure it would necessarily show when the person is just walking around. However, dress and activity would definitely affect its "noticeability."

I hope my answers weren't too off the mark; I tried to check everything, and sometimes I just had to make a decision when things weren't spelled out too clearly. I trust I didn't frustrate some of you to pieces!

Re: 20 Questions (Vol. VI)
1. Is it magical? I don't know if the answer itself can be called magical. It is certainly connected with the magical world and that makes it magical in a sense, but whether it has an inherent magical quality, I can't tell.
2. Is it someone/something that can be touched? No.
Solitaire, I think your answers were very good. I enjoyed your puzzle. Now let's see how challenging this one will prove.

3. Is it a thing? Erm... I never know the exact meaning of this word. It is not a tangible thing, not an object. Probably not a thing.
4. Do we read about it in more than one book? Yes, in fact we do.
LOL, it will be difficult to give just yes/no answers with this one!

5. Was it living at some point in time?
In this game, I thought everything fell into one of three catagories......person, place or thing. Is this correct? I don't want to appear dumber than I am.

LOL, that makes it a thing because it is not a person or a place. I didn't know that these were the categories (English is not my native language), and I tend to think of categories like living beings, objects or abstract concepts. And places. Sorry and thanks for the explanation!

Re: 20 Questions (Vol. VI)
6. Do we first read about it in an odd numbered book?
You are not dumb nor do you appear that way, Choices. But the wizarding world is so complex that not everything fits into those three categories. Sometimes we use a fourth category-Abstract Concepts. For example: being confunded isn't a person or place; but it really isn't a thing either because because you can't see or touch it. Yet it is something found in the books, and therefore is eligible for use as a puzzle.Choices wrote:In this game, I thought everything fell into one of three catagories......person, place or thing. 7. Is it connected to Hogwarts?
I always get confused by the abstract concepts.

Re: 20 Questions (Vol. VI)
10. Although we can't see this thing, can we see the results of it?
I guess I have a broader view of "thing".....to me an abstract concept is a thing, wind is a thing, fear is a thing, an idea is a thing, pain is a thing, etc. I think the old TV show "What's My Line" used the concept of person, place or thing - maybe that is where I got it.

Thanks, Choices, it's good you have explained. When you speak a foreign language the simplest terms may sometimes prove to be more difficult than the more complicated ones. It was when I started to play this game, years ago, that I realized I don't know the precise meaning of thing in English.

Re: 20 Questions (Vol. VI)
11. Is the result seen on a person?
Julia, I'm sure someone else could explain better than I. For me, if it isn't a person or a place, then it's a thing. (Sorry Julia, I meant to say your name, not Verity's. I corrected it.)

11. Is the result seen on a person? That's not how I would put it, though it depends on how we interpret the question. It cannot be seen on a person like for example the results of sunburn or fear.
Choices, I think the simplest explanation is always the best!
2. Is it someone/something that can be touched? No.
3. Is it a thing? Erm... I never know the exact meaning of this word. It is not a tangible thing, not an object. Probably
4. Do we read about it in more than one book? Yes, in fact we do.
5. Was it living at some point in time? No.
6. Do we first read about it in an odd numbered book? No.
7. Is it connected to Hogwarts? Yes, in a way.
8. Is it an event or occurrence of some sort? No.
9. Is it a spell? No.
10. Although we can't see this thing, can we see the results of it? Yes.
11. Is the result seen on a person? That's not how I would put it, though it depends on how we interpret the question. It cannot be seen on a person like for example the results of sunburn or fear.
Choices, I think the simplest explanation is always the best!
