Eeeeek!!!!!!
You mean I have to come up with something to quiz y'all on?
Well, I'd better get busy coming up with something. I've been re-reading the series (again) prior to the DH2 movie so hopefully I can come up with something fresh and challenging.

The Harry Potter Non-Magical Person Quiz #130
The Harry Potter Non-Magical Person Quiz
Below are 17 quotes. I’m asking who said it to whom (or the situation) in which of the books. Some people don’t have proper names established so a description of the person is acceptable (for instance, the waitress in the coffee shop on Tottenham Court Road). In one case, 5 bonus points will be awarded for the proper name since it is so obscure, I’ll be astonished if anyone will remember it. ( I certainly didn’t!)
Scoring: Two points for each part of the answer. Who said it is 2 points. The situation when the statement was made is 2 points. The third part is the book it occurred in for 2 points. 17 questions x 3 parts x 2 points each is 102 total points. It's time for the Ravenclaws to shine! Let the guessing begin!
1. “Nice right hook, Big D”
2. “Where did the glass go?”
3. “…but the cat’s among the pixies now…”
4. “Only I got about an ‘undred of these at the front desk”
5. “Are you threatening me, sir?”
6. “It’s never open, that place…”
7. “…I can do it at last…They’ve had it coming to them for years…”
8. “If there’s something rotten on the inside, there’s nothing anyone can do about it.”
9. “Will you get these ruddy things off us?”
10. “He scares the other children”
11. “Ditch ginger and come and have a pint!”
12. “Oh well, that’s better than a whack on the nose with a rusty poker.”
13. “Why isn’t he coming with us?”
14. “Why’re you staring at the hedge?”
15. “Perhaps people have been celebrating Bonfire Night early --…” 5 Bonus points here for the proper name of the speaker.
16. “You can do magic! Surely you can sort out—well – anything!”
17. “What the hell is that?”
Good luck to all of you non-magical people out there! Don't worry if you don't know many answers since the quotes are generally short and somewhat obscure.
I wasn't sure what to make the post title so some assistance here is requested.

Re: HP Related Trivia (Vol. III)
Here goes nothing! I remembered a fair number of the situations, but I'm not great with names unless they are a major player.
- Spoiler:
- 1. “Nice right hook, Big D” Pierre P., to Dudley in the park, OotP
2. “Where did the glass go?” Dudley's friend, in the reptile house, talking about the snake case, SS/PS
3. “…but the cat’s among the pixies now…” Mrs. Figg, following the dementor attack, OotP
4. “Only I got about an ‘undred of these at the front desk” Front desk clerk at the hotel, referring to letters from Hogwarts, to Vernon, SS/PS
5. “Are you threatening me, sir?” Vernon to Mad Eye, at the train station picking up Harry, end of OotP,
6. “It’s never open, that place…” Random Muggle, referring to the store that is a "front" for Saint Mungo's, OotP
7. “…I can do it at last…They’ve had it coming to them for years…” Filch, gets permission from Umbridge/Ministry to torture students, OotP
8. “If there’s something rotten on the inside, there’s nothing anyone can do about it.” Aunt Marge, talking about Harry, PoA
9. “Will you get these ruddy things off us?” Uncle Vernon to Dumbledore, referring to glasses of drink knocking their heads, HBP
10. “He scares the other children” Mrs. ? who runs the orphanage, telling Dumbledore about Tom Riddle, in a memory, HBP
11. “Ditch ginger and come and have a pint!” Random guy in Totten Court Road to Hermione, referring to Ron, DH
12. “Oh well, that’s better than a whack on the nose with a rusty poker.” Muggle at the camp site at the Quidditch World Cup, GoF
13. “Why isn’t he coming with us?” Dudley, talking about Harry, as family is going into hiding, start of DH
14. “Why’re you staring at the hedge?” Dudley to Harry, who thought he saw a pair of eyes, CoS
15. “Perhaps people have been celebrating Bonfire Night early --…” 5 Bonus points here for the proper name of the speaker. It's the person on the news, don't know the name, talking about the celebrations when LV is 1st thwarted by our young hero, PS/SS
16. “You can do magic! Surely you can sort out—well – anything!” Muggle Prime Minister to Fudge, who went to fill him in on the war, HBP
17. “What the hell is that?” Vernon, referring to noise Weasley's are making trying to get through fireplace, GoF

Re: HP Related Trivia (Vol. III)
Well, here's my try! Some are favorites, so I remember them well. Alas, a few have confunded me!
- Spoiler:
- 1. “Nice right hook, Big D” OP -- Harry to Dudley just before the Dementors attacked, mimicking something he overheard one of Dudley's friends say.
2. “Where did the glass go?” PS/SS -- I think this refers to the vanishing glass in the reptile exhibit. No idea who asked it.
3. “…but the cat’s among the pixies now…” OP -- It sounds like something Mrs. Figg would say.
4. “Only I got about an ‘undred of these at the front desk” PS/SS -- Motel clerk to the Dursleys about Harry's letters from Hogwarts.
5. “Are you threatening me, sir?” This sounds like Uncle Vernon to a Wizard ... not sure which one or what book.
6. “It’s never open, that place…” OP -- Muggle shoppers talking about St. Mungo's, which looked like an old department store with a "Closed for Remodeling" sign and windows with ugly dummies in clothes that were out of style.
7. “…I can do it at last…They’ve had it coming to them for years…” ? Sorry.
8. “If there’s something rotten on the inside, there’s nothing anyone can do about it.” PoA -- I think it's Aunt Marge to Uncle Vernon and Petunia about Harry ... right before he inflates her.
9. “Will you get these ruddy things off us?” HBP -- Uncle Vernon to Dumbledore, about the glasses of mead that were knocking the Dursleys in the head (because they wouldn't drink them).
10. “He scares the other children” HBP -- I think it is the orphanage lady to Dumbledore regarding young Tom Riddle.
11. “Ditch ginger and come and have a pint!” DH -- Some jerks on the road in Tottenham Court Road to Hermione, after the trio has just apparated. They are referring to Ron ("ginger"), because Harry is under the invisibility cloak.
12. “Oh well, that’s better than a whack on the nose with a rusty poker.” It sounds a lot like my Dad's favorite maxims: "I guess it's better than a sharp stick in the eye." Maybe HE said it! LOL (I'm sorry ... I have no idea!)
13. “Why isn’t he coming with us?” DH -- Dudley is asking why Harry isn't going with them when they leave 4PD with Daedalus Diggle and Hestia Jones.
14. “Why’re you staring at the hedge?” CoS -- Dudley to Harry, who is staring at the bush where Dobby is hiding.
15. “Perhaps people have been celebrating Bonfire Night early --…” 5 Bonus points here for the proper name of the speaker. PS/SS -- Muggle newscaster named Ted, the day after the Potters' deaths, referring to all of the sparks the Wizards were firing off to celebrate Voldy's vanquishing.
16. “You can do magic! Surely you can sort out—well – anything!” HBP -- The British Prime Minister to Fudge about all of the murders and catastrophes that had been happening.
17. “What the hell is that?” HBP -- LOL One of my favorites! Uncle Vernon is referring to Kreacher, who has just materialized in the Dursley living room!

BB, I think a great name for your original quiz post would be 'The Harry Potter Non-Magical Person Quiz'. Officially, it'll be the 130th quiz in the Archives. I hope that was helpful.

3. “…but the cat’s among the pixies now…” Arabella Figg after seeing Harry cast a patronus to drive away dementors in GoF

14. “Why’re you staring at the hedge?” Petunia Dursely to Harry after he'd just glimpsed Dobby in the beginning of CoS

HP Trivia Quiz #130
Hi freshwater. Wasn't sure if you got a chance to try out all the nifty codes available on forumotion, but one of them is a spoiler box. When this forum first opened, azi suggested we use these boxes to post answers to things in since the white font shows up a bit on the screen.
Here is the code for puttings things in a spoiler box; you can put your whole quiz in there, like this:
That's it!

Re: HP Related Trivia (Vol. III)
Great quiz, BB. Here goes!
OK, now to see what everyone else got.
- Spoiler:
- 1. “Nice right hook, Big D”
Piers Polkiss to Dudley when the gang are hanging out in the park at the beginning of Order of the Phoenix.
2. “Where did the glass go?”
Bemused zookeeper when the glass front of the snake enclosure disappears in Philosopher's Stone.
3. “…but the cat’s among the pixies now…”
Arabella Figg to Harry when she discovered that Dung had abandoned his post and the Dementors had attacked Harry and Dudley. Order of the Phoenix.
4. “Only I got about an ‘undred of these at the front desk”
Hotel receptionist to Vernon and the rest of the Dursleys at the beginning of Philosopher's Stone when all the letters are following Harry around the country.
5. “Are you threatening me, sir?”
I think Vernon Dursley said this, but I'm not sure who to. I think he was talking to Mad Eye Moody, so it must have been in Order of the Phoenix when Harry returned to Kings Cross Station.
6. “It’s never open, that place…”
Random shopper walking past the shopfront that was the disguised entrance to St. Mungo's in Order of the Phoenix.
7. “…I can do it at last…They’ve had it coming to them for years…”
Argus Filch, also in Order of the Phoenix, talking about being able to properly punish Fred and George for their misdemeanours.
8. “If there’s something rotten on the inside, there’s nothing anyone can do about it.”
Aunt Marge, talking to Vernon and Petunia about Harry and his parents in Prisoner of Azkaban.
9. “Will you get these ruddy things off us?”
Vernon Dursley to Dumbledore, talking about the floating glasses of mead that were bumping into their heads at the beginning of Half Blood Prince. (I was so disappointed they left that out of the movie).
10. “He scares the other children”
Ooh, what was her name? The matron at the orphanage where Tom Riddle spent his childhood, talking to Dumbledore in a flashback we saw in Half Blood Prince.
11. “Ditch ginger and come and have a pint!”
A leering builder-type heckling Hermione as the trio walk down Charing Cross Road in Deathly Hallows.
12. “Oh well, that’s better than a whack on the nose with a rusty poker.”
Now this one has me stumped - not sure who this is!
13. “Why isn’t he coming with us?”
Dudley to Vernon and Petunia at the beginning of Deathly Hallows when the Dursleys are being escorted to safety by the Order of the Phoenix.
14. “Why’re you staring at the hedge?”
Another Dudley quote, this time from the beginning of Chamber of Secrets when Harry has just seen a pair of big, round eyes (Dobby) in the hedge at No. 4 Privet Drive.
15. “Perhaps people have been celebrating Bonfire Night early --…” 5 Bonus points here for the proper name of the speaker.
This is the newsreader at the beginning of Philospher's Stone talking about the showers of sparks that have been seen around the country. His name was Ted something.
16. “You can do magic! Surely you can sort out—well – anything!”
The Muggle Prime Minister to Fudge in Half Blood Prince when Fudge goes to give him an update on the situation with LV.
17. “What the hell is that?”
Another tricky one. No idea of this one either!
OK, now to see what everyone else got.

3. Arabella Figg, when Harry fought off the Dementors attacking him and Dudley, OotP
4. The hotel manager, when the Dursley's were trying to stop Harry getting his Hogwarts entrance letter, PS
5. Vernon Dursley, when Hagrid arrives at the island shack to talk to Harry, PS (that one is a complete guess!)

7. Argus Filch, when Umbridge passes a decree allowing physical punishment for breaking school rules, OotP

11. A random drunk man, when Hermione, Harry and Ron were getting away from the cafe on Tottenham Court Road, DH
12. Arabella Figg, can't remember why (or if it is her...), but it would be OotP if it was.
13. Dudley Dursley, when the Dursleys are leaving Privet Drive to go into hiding, DH (guessing again...)
14. Dudley Dursley, when Harry saw two eyes (Dobby) staring at him from the hedge, CoS
15. Ted the weatherman, after Voldie's defeat when the newsreader talks about there being fireworks instead of rain, PS
16. The British Muggle Prime Minister, to Cornelius Fudge/Rufus Scrimgeour when they tell him that Voldemort is back, HBP
17. I'll guess Vernon Dursley, even less idea on time and place...I'll guess when Petunia receives a Howler from Dumbledore, OotP

Re: HP Related Trivia (Vol. III)
Here are my answers ...
That was fun ... and quite challenging, too!
- Spoiler:
- 1. “Nice right hook, Big D” Piers Polkiss(?) or some other of Dudley's friends to Dudley in OotP, in the street, when Dudley and his teenage gang chat about having attacked a kid.
2. “Where did the glass go?” I guess the book is PS, and the scene is after the zoo incident with the vanishing glass. Could the speaker be Piers Polkiss again?
3. “…but the cat’s among the pixies now…” Hm... Arabella Figgs about one of her beloved cats? OotP?
4. “Only I got about an ‘undred of these at the front desk” Probably the receptionist at the shabby hotel where the Dursleys take refuge from the letters addressed to Harry - in vain, as the quote shows. PS
5. “Are you threatening me, sir?” Vernon Dursley to Alastor Moody at the end of OOtP, when a group of Order members meet Harry at King's Cross and give instructions to Vernon regarding his treatment of Harry. I think Moody replies in the affermative.
6. “It’s never open, that place…” Is it about the closed down shop that is the secret entrance to St. Mungo's? A casual passer-by? OotP?
7. “…I can do it at last…They’ve had it coming to them for years…” Filch in OotP, approving of Umbridge's disciplinary measures and in anticipation of some student torture.
8. “If there’s something rotten on the inside, there’s nothing anyone can do about it.” Aunt Marge to the Dursleys and Petunia in particular, discussing her views on education and insulting Harry. PoA
9. “Will you get these ruddy things off us?” Vernon Dursley to Dumbledore in HBP, when Dumbledore visits 4PD and offers the hosts some refreshments and they don't drink them.
10. “He scares the other children” Mrs Cole to Dumbledore in the orphanage, in a memory scene in HBP, talking about 11-year-old Tom Riddle.
11. “Ditch ginger and come and have a pint!” An unnamed (drunken?) man to Hermione in Tottenham Court Road, in DH, almost as soon as the Trio get there.
12. “Oh well, that’s better than a whack on the nose with a rusty poker.” Mr Roberts to Arthur Weasley in GoF?
13. “Why isn’t he coming with us?” Dudley in DH, talking to his parents as they leave their home - about Harry!
14. “Why’re you staring at the hedge?” This will be Dudley again, this time in CoS, when Harry catches a glimpse of Dobby's watchful eyes.
15. “Perhaps people have been celebrating Bonfire Night early --…” 5 Bonus points here for the proper name of the speaker. No idea of the name, but it will be the man on the Muggle TV who tells about strange things happening all over the country at the beginning of PS.
16. “You can do magic! Surely you can sort out—well – anything!” A very frightened Muggle Prime Minister to Fudge and Scrimgeour in HBP, referring to the general state of affairs in the Muggle and the Wizarding World.
17. “What the hell is that?” It could be Vernon - any time - but maybe it is in GoF, when he shows Harry Mrs Weasley's letter.
That was fun ... and quite challenging, too!

HP Related Trivia Quiz, Set #4, Quiz/Answers #130
As you probably guessed, I didn’t call this a Muggle Quiz since Arabella Figg and Argus Filch were included and they are squibs.
I was impressed by the knowledge of the books by our esteemed Forum members! I should not be surprised since the quality of discussion in the forum is unmatched. That’s why I like it here!
Congratulations to Freshwater who remembered the weatherman in PS/SS. I certainly didn’t remember that!
The quiz is from quotes: Who said it to whom in which of the books. Some people don’t have proper names established so a description of the person is acceptable. In one case, 5 bonus points will be awarded for the proper name (since I doubt anyone will remember it).
* answers below *
The winner is Verity Weasley! Congratulations!!

Judging from Verity's last comment on the riddles thread, I think she may be too busy at the moment to run another trivia round. If anyone else would like to do the next one, please post your willingness!

* answers below *
- Spoiler:
I was amused by the different adjectives to describe the drunk on Tottenham Court Road. Unfortunately, I can guess where some of you may have come up with those descriptions.
One other word, I regret that I was unable to have any quotes from Mr. Roberts or Frank Bryce. I searched for days and could not find my copy of GoF. (It had fallen off the shelf and was hidden).
Scoring: Two points for each part of the answer. Who said it is 1 part. The audience to the statement or to whom it was directed is the second part. The third part is the book it occurred in. I was not harsh on the second portion of the grading. If I thought the answer was recalled correctly, I counted it as correct.
1. “Nice right hook, Big D” Piers Polkiss to Dudley and his gang outside the play park, OotP
2. “Where did the glass go?” Unnamed reptile house keeper to the Dursleys in PS/SS
(I accepted zoo keeper here, although the zoo keeper is mentioned separately, apologising profusely, a paragraph later.)
3. “…but the cat’s among the pixies now…” Arabella Figg to Harry and Dudley after the dementor attack, OotP
4 “Only I got about an ‘undred of these at the front desk” Unnamed female hotel owner to Vernon Dursley in PS/SS (I accepted hotel employee at the hotel as long as I knew it was the hotel).
5. “Are you threatening me, sir?” Vernon Dursley to Alastor Moody after leaving the Hogwarts Express in OotP
6. “It’s never open, that place…” Unnamed woman passing St. Mungo’s façade (Purge and Bowes) OotP
7. “…I can do it at last…They’ve had it coming to them for years…” Argus Filch to himself in Dolores Umbridge’s office (Harry just ducked under the invisibility cloak) about punishing the Weasley twins in OotP ( I accepted Filch talking about punishing the twins after the swamp incident…)
8. “If there’s something rotten on the inside, there’s nothing anyone can do about it.” Aunt Marge (Marjorie Dursley) to Vernon and Petunia, PoA
9. “Will you get these ruddy things off us?” Vernon Dursley to Albus Dumbledore in 4PD about the glasses of mead bouncing on their heads in HBP.
10. “He scares the other children.” Mrs. Cole, the orphanage matron, to Albus Dumbledore about 11 year old Tom Riddle in HBP. I did require Mrs. Cole to be named for full credit.
11. “Ditch ginger and come and have a pint!” Unnamed drunk man on Tottenham Court Road to Hermione in DH
12. “Oh well, that’s better than a whack on the nose with a rusty poker.” Mrs. Cole to Albus Dumbledore referring to Tom Riddle returning to the orphanage for the summer and holidays in HBP
13. “Why isn’t he coming with us?” Dudley Dursley to Vernon and Petunia prior to the order taking them into hiding, Deathly Hallows
14. “Why’re you staring at the hedge?” Dudley Dursley to Harry Potter after Harry saw Dobby’s eyes, CoS
15. “Perhaps people have been celebrating Bonfire Night early --…” Bonus points here for the proper name of the speaker. Jim McGuffin, the weatherman on the news speaking to the TV audience in PS/SS
(Ted was the Anchor discussing owl sightings with Jim. I accepted Ted or reporter on the TV news here since the proper name was a separate bonus question and the reader recalled the situation.)
16. “You can do magic! Surely you can sort out—well – anything!” Muggle Prime Minister to Fudge and Scrimgeour in #1 Downing Street in the first chapter of HBP
17. “What the hell is that?” Vernon Dursley to Albus Dumbledore in 4PD when Kreacher appears in the sitting room, HBP
The winner is Verity Weasley! Congratulations!!

Freshwater – 73 (got the bonus!!!).

Re: HP Related Trivia (Vol. III)
Oh my gosh BB, are you sure? That was unexpected. The scores were all very close though.
You're right. I'm just flat out at the moment. I've spent the day sealing up boxes ready for the removers tomorrow, and squeezing in a few more things to each one. So, who wants to do a trivia quiz?

Re: HP Related Trivia (Vol. III)
I would be willing to make a new quiz and post it sometime in the next few days, but perhaps someone who hasn't been missing from the forum for the last eight months will want to, in which case they should take precedence. Maybe one of the runners-up from the last quiz?

Re: HP Related Trivia (Vol. III)
Well, I'll get posting again regardless. But if nobody else expresses an interest by the time I have one written (probably 2 or 3 days, maybe a bit more) I'll put one up; in the meantime, anyone should feel free to put one up or say that they are going to.

Re: HP Related Trivia (Vol. III)
Sorry it's taken me so long to get around to putting this up. All the questions pertain to GoF, mostly to the early part, as that is the book I am in the midst of rereading. I will leave the quiz up for two weeks. Good luck.
1. What is the wizard Archie wearing at the Quidditch World Cup?
2. What two magical creatures are Blast-Ended Skrewts a cross between?
3. What magical creature injured the heads of all three participating schools at the 1792 Triwizard Tournament?
4. What is the Beauxbatons coat of arms, as displayed on the side of the flying carriage?
5. What causes Crookshanks to scratch the occupants of the taxi on the way to Kings Cross?
6. What is the name of the pub in Little Hangleton?
7. What result do Fred and George bet on at the Quidditch World Cup?
8. What is the name of the Durmstrang student who asks Karkaroff for wine and is reprimanded for having spilled food on himself?
9. What does Lee Jordan tie around Harry in the Gryffindor common room after Harry is named as a Triwizard champion?
10. What is notable about the appearance of Committee on Experimental Charms member Gilbert Wimple that is remarked on by Arthur at the Quidditch World Cup?

Re: HP Related Trivia (Vol. III)
I have read bits and pieces of GoF more frequently than PS, CoS, PoA, and OP (looking for game topics and hangman quotes), because GoF, HBP, and DH were the only 3 not packed away for the last 2 years. Still, this quiz makes me think I need to do a reread of the WHOLE book ... not just parts of it. LOL
My answers
Okay, now I don't feel so bad. Azi had a lot of the same answers, and she usually does pretty well!

NEW games subfolders...
Some things on the Home page have changed...
I noticed that the 20Qs thread was going to end in 5 pages, so I asked Denise to rename the 'Indexed Archives' folder in the Potty Games section to 'Completed Game Threads'. Each Potty Game has its own folder where its completed thread will go, as well as its Archived List of past games and answers (if applicable). So anyone who checks any game's Archived list, look for it in that game's folder.
