Verity, I've just watched the video of the World Scholar's Cup. It must be a great feeling to be able to take part in such an exciting event. And now that your son is about to graduate, your family is going through another exciting period!
The final exams in secondary schools have started here, too, but I'm involved "only" as a teacher at the moment. There are a few more years to go before I can get involved as a parent. We are not bored though: My daughter sings in a choir and they have been very busy recently (as a result, we have been to a very beautiful concert), and this weekend my son is taking part in a sports championship.

Thanks for watching Julia. Yes, it is exciting and the warm fuzzy feeling still hasn't worn off.
Good luck to your son for the weekend sports. My family's plans for this weekend involves collapsing in a heap!

Yay! My son has finished! He did his last exams today - maths this morning and Japanese this afternoon - and now he's finished with school.

I went with your suggestion, Verity!
That's a long time to wait for the results! What are his plans next?
Here, secondary school final exams have started this week. These are written exams, and they will have to be marked in a couple of weeks, because in June the students take their oral exams. They learn their results right after the oral exams.

These exams are for the IB - International Baccalaureate Diploma - so the results are released worldwide at the same time, around July 7th depending on the timezone. He plans to go to university in Australia, but not until February when the university year starts there.

Verity, that's a nice long holiday for your son, until February!
We have just come home from the championship after an incredibly long day (we had to be there at 8.30 a.m. and we left for home at 11 p.m.). My son has a new gold medal and two bronze ones, so he is happy. I'm also happy because he is happy, and especially because he didn't get injured. We are all exhausted though.

Congratulations to your son Julia!
My son deserves a holiday after finishing school, but eight months is probably a bit too long! We're trying to find him something productive and useful to do, but it's not easy.

Sorry about the stalling, but I'm not on top form today - I'm still very tired. (It's interesting how we parents can get exhausted by simply watching a whole-day sports event, while my son, who actually competed, is absolutely refreshed and energetic today.)

Who can it be? I was thinking that the League might have instigated a complicated system of passwords or something to protect entry to their Headquarters.
