My answer sheet for the trivia questions was on the laptop I spilled some green tea on. I am picking up the laptop today and am hoping my documents are all intact, so that I can post the results of this quiz soon. If not, I will tackle it later. Thanks for your patience.

Random Quotes Quiz - Who said it to whom and in which book?

In this nice and easy quiz, each answer has 3 parts. Partial credit will be given, of course. HP Related Trivia (Vol. III) - Page 5 2752390508 The highest score you can earn in this 12 question quiz is 36, not including the BONUS Q.

Example: "Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind either. There's talent - and a nice thirst to prove yourself ..."
→ The Sorting Hat to Harry in PS/SS.

1. "... but then we were rudely interrupted by Severus Snape!"
2. "I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself," he said coolly."
3. "Some people got a D? Ha!"
4. "Zey are saying zat zis little boy is to compete also?"
5. "It is a beautiful and terrible thing and should therefore be treated with great caution."
6. The next password will be 'Mad-Eye'. Keep each other safe. Keep faith. Goodnight."
7. "You're young in years but the heart that beats beneath your bosom is as shrivelled as an old maid's, your soul as dry as the pages of the books to which you so desperately cleave."
8. "It unscrews the other way."
9. "Make way for the Heir of Slytherin, seriously evil wizard coming through..."
10. "....and she's seeing someone. Jealous type. Big bloke. You wouldn't want to cross him."
11. "I mean he's sensitive, people bully him, too, and he feels lonely and hasn't got anybody to talk to, and he's not afraid to show his feelings and cry!"
12. "Goblins aren't exactly fluffy little bunnies, though, are they?"

BONUS Q: What do all these quotes have in common?

* answers below *
Spoiler:

Scores:

Betelgeuse Black – 36
azi – 32
Mona – 36
freshwater – 32
Hogwarts Class of 85 - 32
Verity Weasley – 34

Everyone did really well, and there was a tie for 1st place — well done BB and Mona — so the bonus question was needed to decide the winner. HP Related Trivia (Vol. III) - Page 5 2942856553 to Mona for figuring out the connection between all the quotes!

Post  Betelgeuse Black Sun Nov 06, 2011 11:02 am

I just wanted to say thanks to PAH for doing the last quiz. That was a good idea for the bonus question.

PAH, I also wanted to send you a short note about feeling unappreciated. I know you have done and do a lot of work on the forum. This site does not run itself. Many tasks take a lot of time. If doing these tasks feels more like work to you instead of fun, then I highly recommend that you take a break (as you indicated you will). When the fun becomes work, it's time to take a step back and evaluate the situation. My impression is that you have many things to do in your life and maintaining this site has become a burden that you don't need. I will not hesitate to drop activities on the forum when things get crazy at home. I don't like doing that when I know people are waiting for things to get done, but my family takes priority.

Also, thanks to the other forum "hosts" (the proper name escapes me at the moment). Sometimes fun takes a lot of work and I, for one, appreciate the effort.

I hope you are able to get some "me" time, and come back to participate in whatever level you feel comfortable.

If nobody has an objection, I'd like to put together another trivia quiz. I'll do some studying on a potential subject (suggestions welcome) if the consensus is positive, or at least not negative. My first thought would be a Christmas holiday quiz in preparation for the winter holidays. rendeer

HP Related Trivia (Vol. III) - Page 5 Empty The Harry Potter Christmas Trivia Quiz

Post  Betelgeuse Black Sun Dec 04, 2011 6:21 pm

It’s near Christmas so I thought a Harry Potter Christmas Trivia Quiz would be appropriate. It is clear that Christmas is important in the world of Harry Potter. Many important things happen with Christmas as part of the scene. Some questions are meant to be nearly impossible and some not so difficult. As I have said before, I’m quite impressed how many people know the minutia in the Harry Potter books. I'm not making the quiz long to save time for you and me. So let the quiz begin!

1. Harry receives gifts from the Dursleys and sometimes we are aware of what the gift is. What are the three gifts we know about and what books are they in? (1 point per gift, 1 point for the correct book) Total points not given here.

2. In PoA, there are only 13 people at Christmas dinner (an unlucky number!). Two remain unnamed but the other 11 are specifically named. Can you name all 11 for 11 pts?

3. Not all Christmas Days were spent at Hogwarts. What years were spent at Hogwarts for 1 point?

4. Where else was Harry on Christmas Day? (Where was he when he woke up?), 1 point each, I won’t show total points here since that will give the answer to #3.

5. In what books did Harry participate in a snowball fight? 1 point per book.

6. In the books that Harry left Hogwarts for Christmas, what are the methods mentioned for travel to and from the school? ( Hint: Not all are mentioned) (1 point each)

7. Three different hats from Wizard Crackers are mentioned in the books. Two for Dumbledore and one for Harry. Name them for 1 point each

8. What color jumpers (sweaters) did Mrs. Weasley give to Harry? Specifically, there are 2 years where a pattern and color are mentioned (1 point for each pattern, 1 point for each color, 1 point for each book, 6 total points). Another year has a color without a pattern (1 point for color, 1 point for the book, 2 points total). Grand total = 8 pts.

Good luck to all!
BB
