Julia! And I really liked your 5 words. Typical of Phineas.
PAH, I think he may have softened towards Harry a bit, but would retain his snide way of talking, JM2K.

Headmaster Snape of your whereabouts
I was thinking Harry could give him credit for this, but I like it much better that he is giving it to himself.

Verity, the Slytherin banner is my favourite! Great expressions on the smileys' faces!
PAH, I edited this post and changed 'will' to 'would'.

1) Just to clarify, I had only asked if folks thought Phineas would've changed his manner with Harry alone … I assumed his manner with everyone else would've remained unchanged. So we're all in agreement: PNB is snide to everyone else and somewhat less so to Harry.
2) "Besides, Snape has taught him to be more respectful towards Hermione." ~ Julia. Where in DH has Snape done this?
3) Thanks for the change, Mona. And congrats, Julia!
4) Re: Phineas / Phineas Nigellus / Phineas Nigellus Black.
These are places where his name appears in our narrative:
first intro: "What's going on in here?" Phineas Nigellus Black demanded.
---
Hermione glanced upwards towards the room where Phineas' portrait usually hung.
---
Bounding up the stairs, the others soon joined Phineas in the bare bedroom.
---
Phineas Nigellus Black surveyed the trio carefully, with a shrewd gaze.
----
"… a bag?" Phineas Nigellus interrupted
As this is a game where every word counts, and words add up quickly, I say let's split the difference and call him 'Phineas Nigellus'. We should be consistent about it, too, the first introduction notwithstanding.
So the new lines will read:
"What's going on in here?" Phineas Nigellus Black demanded.
---

Or, I wonder if, in some places, some pronouns could be used? The placement of 'he' and 'his' in some sentences would help, with the abundance of 'Phineas Nigellus'. I'll have a look at that when I get home tonight, and post my words accordingly, deviating from the requisite five words as the situation warrants.
So, if the narrator has to use the snarky Slytherin’s name, 'Phineas Nigellus' it is!

Where in DH has Snape done this?
PAH, in The Prince's Tale chapter, Phineas refers to Hermione as the 'Mudblood', and Severus tells him not to use that word.
EDIT: Oh, Julia has just explained.

Phineas Nigellus seemed mollified
I've been thinking of the memory scene in which Phineas refers to as "the Mudblood", and tells him not to use that word, and so Phineas says "the Granger girl then".
Thanks for the congratulations! I was quite surprised to suddenly find myself a second-year!

Okay, so Harry has called PNB, 'Headmaster' before in our story, and now.. a sprinkling of 'Professor'? Who knew referring to PNB would be such a dynamic endeavor?
Ahhh... a memory scene. Thanks, Julia.

I've thought over whether we call PNB 'Phineas' or 'Phineas Nigellus'. I'm revising my earlier decsion and going with the less wordy one... so 'Phineas' it is.
