Thanks for the comments about the Crookshanks story, folks. It would be great to hear from everyone who participated, even if it was just for a few posts. Thanks!
Okay, please excuse me, but I need to have a bit of a [rant]. It would be great, if, every once in a while, folks could acknowledge the fact that I posted the official story and stats with some words of appreciation. When I look at the comments for the other Potty Games: the trivia quiz, riddle, hangman, and 20 Questions, folks get nice comments there all the time. Granted, I am not creating the story on my own, but I am certainly compiling it, thinking of a title, formatting the text and the stats, and posting it, usually very quickly, all on my own. And sometimes, i wonder, why bother trying to get things done quickly? No one seems to say a thing about it. Yes, I realize folks are busy, but I have things to do, too. It takes more than magic to get this stuff done. [/rant]

Oh PAH, I'm so sorry!
I guess it's kind of like housework - people only notice it if it isn't done.
When you keep doing as good a job as you always do, I guess we take it for granted.
Sorry once again, and let me say it at least now - great job!

PAH,
I'm sorry that you have not been congratulated and thanked for your work getting this stuff together. I have only recently started with running a trivia quiz and it really does take some time. I think the forum is a great place to be because of people like you who take the time to let me stop by and drop a few posts and feel like a part of something great.
Sooooo, thank you for all that you have done for us!

I didn't have a particular year/age in mind, so we should establish that at some point. I don't think we need to decide ahead, but perhaps if someone gets the opportunity to add their year to your post, then I'd say choose one and go for it!

Thanks, Mona and BB. I read rants on the Chat thread from other Forum members that speak of the same sort of thing in their non-Forum lives, and I thought, "Well, it happens here, too, from time to time." Anyways, I'll put my own horn away now.

As I mentioned in this post earlier, since there is no real reason for me to hurry to post a story and its stats once it's finished, from now on Five Worders, please allow for up to a week between one story's completion and the next story's start. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Jobberknoll (from the Lexicon): A tiny blue speckled bird that makes no sound until the moment of its death, when it lets out a long scream consisting of all the sounds it has ever heard; their feathers are important ingredients in making potions that affect memory (FB). Jobberknoll feathers are used in Memory Potions and Truth Serums.
I hope this will do for a special present.

Wow, that's a lot! I went to the Archives yesterday and read a story at random, about an owl with a lime green beak. It was a pretty 'random' story actually , quite different from what we do now, but oddly enough it worked! It was very entertaining.

nice, but are you sure
Mona, back in the early days of 5 words most of the stories were random, but we had so much fun writing them. We often would try to throw out something completely outrageous just to throw the next poster for a bit of a loop. Product was not nearly as important as process. Kind of an "anything goes" philosophy. It might be fun to write such a story again. I seem to remember one with LV tap dancing, but that might have been a different fan fiction.

you want me to have
10 volumes sounds like a lot, and I suppose it is, but Volume IV is ready to post. Volume V was the most voluminous volume, with 13 stories, but after that the volumes ranged from 7 to 11 stories. And, as with other threads I've formatted, I've worked out some shortcuts, so things are going quicker than they were before.

Hehe, Mona... I have a different take on those earlier stories... one that's not quite as appreciative as yours.Mona wrote:I went to the Archives yesterday and read a story at random, about an owl with a lime green beak. Re: Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XV)
them?" She looked a bit
PAH, to appreciate the old stories you have to remember they were never meant to be "polished". There was plenty of other fan fiction out there for that. The two who started the thread were a high school kid and another still in college. I think they had to write enough "quality" papers, so 5-words was a chance to put the rules aside and just have fun. Randomness. Chaos. Very little -if any- discussion about where the story was heading, so you truly never new what the next post would bring.

Seems like she's already said they're very nice, and I can't think of anything to change my words to. Oh well...
I'd love to read the Voldy tap dancing story! PAH if you come across it while archiving, please let me know.

Over the past two years
There... setting up a time frame for the story. So now, we're in the start of Year 3, as it's late October.
Mona, I think that story is called 'Springtime for Slytherin' and is in Volume V, the early part. It was before I started Five Wording... I joined in midway through the 5th Volume. So before the week is out, check the Archives.
EDIT: In case anyone's stuck with a follow-up to my words...

I tried to get into the archived threads to read, but it wouldn't let me in. Is it just not ready? If no one can get in to read the stories, then all of PAH's hard work will be in vain.
