Let's see: Lupin was watching over Harry and escorted him to 12GP in OotP, he helped protect the Prophecy, he took part in the Battle of the MOM, in the battle where they took Harry to the Burrow from 4PD, and in the Battle of Hogwarts, where he died. He was also at Hogwarts when Dumbledore was killed - OK, that wasn't one of the greatest moments of the Order. He also tried to stop werewolves from joining Voldemort - that wasn't a great success either, but he may have done something remarkable during these secret missions, or perhaps he put together a report or a study about the lives of werewolves which would turn out to be very useful after the war.
