Yes, it was very good! We learned useful things through a lot of fun activities and workshops. I met some wonderful people and the trainers were fantastic.

I don't know if it's just me, but the forum is loading incredibly slowly at the moment, and the formatting tools are not loading at all. I tried to edit my previous post to add the bold code several times, but just couldn't get the page to load. So if my posts look unusual for a while, that's the reason.
Edit: I've just connected at work, and it seems to be working fine, so it must be some kind of problem with my internet at home. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

I haven't had any problems with formatting lately - I hope your problem gets solved soon!
Sorry about my absence again - it's work, work, work. On top of an already crazy workload this month, my colleagues and I also have to substitute for colleagues who are ill or have other problems - so no free periods these days. At the same time, my son is going through his entrance exams (to secondary school), which also makes our lives more eventful (but that's in a good way, luckily).

It seems to be better now.
I know what you mean about work. I am in the middle of a very busy week, as Sunday is the Bangkok round of the Tournament of Minds, which I am organising pretty much single-handedly. We have around 200 students from ten different schools coming for the day-long event, so my stress levels have been pretty high this week.
Good luck to your son for his exams!

menacingly out of the crowd
Verity, I wish you a happy belated birthday and a great day on Sunday, too! I hope you will have time to celebrate after the tournament is over.
We are also having a special day at my school on Monday (not an inter-school event but still). I'm supposed to do a workshop there but I've lost all my voice today. It's an epidemic here, apparently. There's another teacher who was to do a workshop and lost her voice, but at least she did that sooner and there was time to find someone to replace her. In my case, I don't know what they'll do...

Oh dear Julia! I hope you get your voice back in time.
We have a staff development day next Friday and I'm supposed to do a workshop, which I haven't even started thinking about yet. I also found out yesterday that I'm also supposed to deliver part of the keynote presentation to the whole school alongside the head of school and deputy head of school! I guess I'll worry about that next week.

I'm not sure, has the PM started his speech yet?
LOL, Verity, I know exactly what it's like when you say "I'll worry about that next week." I also have to keep a strict "worrying order" if I want to keep sane and to be able to concentrate on the most urgent job at hand.

I assumed the Prime Minister had been giving his speech during this last paragraph. We just haven't heard the details of it - and don't need to. So perhaps he has given most of his speech at this point, but hasn't taken questions from the journalists yet. Here's the last paragraph:

- Spoiler:
- That afternoon the Prime Minister put on his most charming smile as he proudly (though nervously) stepped out in front of hundreds of excited spectators and journalists to deliver his speech. Kingsley stood behind his back, among the other ministerial staff, alert and observant. He was dressed in a tailored suit with a silk tie and a deep purple waistcoat. He sensed something in the air, something cold and ominous. He realized that dementors were gathering nearby. Already the mood of the crowd had begun to change. People were muttering uneasily and casting worried looks at the dark clouds gathering overhead. Journalists were eyeing the Prime Minister with suspicion and contempt.
“Prime Minister,” Kingsley whispered softly, as a tall hooded man stepped menacingly out of the crowd. “I think it’s time to withdraw into your office for...
