OK then. I think something happens hear that cuts the PM short and makes immediate action necessary.

- Spoiler:
- The PM must have some official bodyguards, too. I wonder what they'll do at this moment.

time from Kingsley, shot over
I'm back, exhausted but satisfied. Everything went pretty well. I had a minor panic when I got to school at 7am and none of the rooms were unlocked and there was no one in sight, but once I got that sorted everything went OK. I think all the kids had a good time, and one of the teams from our school actually won one of the divisions, which was a huge surprise to me, because I've been working with the team and didn't think they had a chance of being competitive. It's amazing what a looming deadline can do.

Congratulations on the successful event, Verity! It must have been a lot of work but a great experience, too. Further congratulations on having a winning team as well!
I won't be able to teach tomorrow, so the work I invested in my workshop will probably be wasted. Alas, earwax.

- Perhaps the DE reacts quickly, too.

- Spoiler:
- Since there are several DE's, protecting the PM may cost Kingsley the chance to properly protect himself and he may get injured. Then, who knows, perhaps the Dementors show up, too... They've been mentioned, after all.
- Spoiler:
- I'm so glad! I think I've mentioned that my son's taken entrance exams. He's applied to three different secondary schools (all very prestigious ones). Now that both the written and the oral exams are over, the first of them has announced the order of applicants today, and my son has 189 points out of 200. With this, he's in the sixth place of the list, but the fifth and fourth ones have 189 points, too. (They have to set up an order between them even in the case of equal results and then the advantage goes to students who, for example, have siblings at the school, but the ordering doesn't really matter at the top of the list, only when it means the difference between being accepted and not being accepted.) So there are only three students who actually did better (the best one has 194 points). This means my son is sure to be accepted to this school. Now, although he's applied to three schools, this one is the school of his choice, and incidentally, the one where I went when I was a secondary school student, so ... it's great news and very exciting! My son is at school at the moment and I can hardly wait to be able to tell him!

Thanks, Verity! My son is 13 years old. In the case of top schools, entry is indeed very competitive. The school in question is at the moment in the fifth best place on the national list of secondary schools. It was a very good school when I went there, too.

Well congratulations again. It sounds like quite an achievement. I wonder if any of your old teachers are still at the school?
- Spoiler:
- The DE is obviously not AK-ing Muggles at the moment, so I am just imagining him blasting them out of his way as he moves through the crowd. Of course, they could easily get injured from flying through the air, so it's still a dangerous situation.

Yes, some of those who were the youngest at that time are still there. I definitely know of one of my teachers (though I haven't seen her for many years) - she had just come out of university then, and she is still at the school. We were her very first students, so she should remember our class, what do you think?
- Spoiler:
- Shall we give him a bit of a dilemma? He is there to protect the PM, not the ordinary Muggles, after all.

moment of indecision for Kingsley
I'm sure he'll find a way to protect the Prime Minister and the innocent Muggles.
It's hard to imagine being at the same school for all that time! Were you a good class? If she remembers you, will they be fond memories, do you think? If it's the fifth best school in the country, I imagine you were all very well-behaved, hard-working students.

I guess we were good. It didn't necessarily seem so at the time, and the standards were high, too, but in retrospect... Where I teach, the average secondary student is addicted to mobile phones and to Facebook (or to video games). Using a mobile phone in class is easily the most typical form of rule breaking. What were we doing when we were misbehaving in class? Reading - or knitting! We also had a rather intellectual type of game, in which, basically, we challenged each other to instant trivia quizzes just about anything in the world, and sometimes we couldn't stop even in class. LOL, it's a different generation. All the same, we were teenagers, too.
Anyway, I would like my son to experience an intellectually stimulating environment in his secondary school years, not just this who's got a better game console or more "likes" on Facebook type of competition. His school has been OK in this respect so far (thanks to certain teachers and to a small circle of good and intelligent friends) but it's probably time to move on.
- Spoiler:
- Idea: Perhaps he jumps between the DE's and the PM (who should be retreating very rapidly now) and sends some protecting charms towards the Muggles at the same time. That way he might end up wounded himself - but (luckily) not very badly wounded.
