It's pure coincidence that the two Professor resolutions so far have involved hair, I swear!

my wicked sense of humor
As of this today, I am still internet-less at home. (Am back at my local café, using their free wifi again.) Apparently, the Saturday afternoon appt. I thought was scheduled for yesterday was for NEXT Saturday. Saturday appts. are hard to get, since no one wants to take off a day at work to sit home, waiting for the technician. But I got an evening appt. for this Wednesday, from 6 to 8pm. So fingers crossed, my net will be right as rain at the end of Wednesday evening.
Verity, I was back at school on the 2nd. The NYC Department of Education is not as civiliized as other educational entities around the world.

How frustrating PAH! I hope you get it sorted soon.
It was my first day back at work today. Getting up at the crack of dawn again after three weeks of sleeping in was difficult!

Crabbe:
I won't ask any
I seem to remember that Crabbe and Goyle did not have partners at the Yule Ball, and maybe Crabbe is thinking of that. Just to contrast his resolution with Harry's.

0 posts left - this short story is finished! And following our new plan, I'll post the completed story in the next day or so.
Taking turns, Julia should start the next story. But I guess we need a new thread for that.
Yay for the return of PAH's internet! Sorry to hear you're swamped at work though. I can certainly relate. It's been a very full-on week, and there's really no let-up in sight until June! I'm glad it's the weekend.

Story #150
NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS
Hermione Granger | I will write a runic index of all the potions we make this year. |
Ron Weasley | I will tell Krum that he is not the greatest Quidditch player ever and that he'd better stay clear of Hermione and Ginny, too. |
Harry Potter | In future, I will ask girls to balls - if I ever go to one again - before anyone else. |
Ginny Weasley | I will start ignoring Harry, and looking for someone else to go out with, someone who notices me. |
Professor Snape | I will not continue to wash my hair with Sleekeazy's Hair Potion, but will try the herbal shampoo advertised in the Journal of Professional Potioneering. |
Neville Longbottom | I resolve to stand up for myself and to never let my friends down. |
Draco Malfoy | I will get the top mark in our end-of-year exams and I'll be a prefect before that Mudblood Granger. |
Luna Lovegood | I'll found the Hogwarts Chapter of the Society For the Study of Crumple-Horned Snorkacks. |
Fred Weasley | Make people laugh. |
George Weasley | Collect the money for starting our own business. |
Professor McGonagall | I resolve to let my hair down more often in future so that my wicked sense of humour can be better appreciated. |
Vincent Crabbe | I won't ask any girls to the ball next year. They don't deserve me. |
Gregory Goyle | No more diets! |
Dobby | I'll learn to knit jumpers and tea cosies for myself – and socks! |
Hagrid | I’ll be more careful with my beloved creatures and precious secrets. |

Great job getting the story up so quickly, Verity! I like these resolutions very much! I think we always do well when we have short stories and limited posts... it helps the stories be tighter and easier to manage.
We need a new thread to start story #151, and I will be able to get it posted later this evening when I get home from meeting some friends for dinner. If I get home later than expected, I will post it tomorrow morning.

Re: Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XVII)
Thanks PAH. I'd been compiling as we went along so it wasn't too onerous. That's the first time I've used a table though. I was very pleased with myself.

Great job on the table, Verity. They are fun, aren't they?
The new volume of Five Words stories, Volume XVIII, is up!
Julia, when you are ready to start the new story, #151, just go right ahead!
Any post-story comments about "New Year's Resolutions", to close out this thread?

Re: Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XVII)
Great job getting up the story, Verity, and that was a neat way to format it - made it really easy to read. I liked all the resolutions very much, especially McGonagall's and Crabbe's.
My new year resolution is to make it a point to post here everyday, but I can't start till 2nd week of Feb. My sister-in-law and family are making one of their rare visits, and I'm doing some really thorough house cleaning. I wouldn't be so busy if I hadn't neglected the cleaning the rest of the year!

Re: Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XVII)
That's a very nice resolution, Mona! I think I'll make the same one!
It was a good idea to write New Year's Resolutions for different characters. Some of them were funny, others of a more serious nature (like Neville's), and I kind of wish we could have written some more, but alas earwax, that was all we had room for.
Thanks, PAH, for the new thread, I'll go directly there and start the new story!

Re: Potty Game: Five Words (Vol. XVII)
Thanks Mona! It's nice to see you back on here. I hope you can stick to your New Year's resolution.
It was harder than I thought it would be to come up with resolutions for some of the characters, especially bearing in mind the point in time we decided to set these. It was fun to write something so short though, as each resolution could be something different.
OK, time to head over to the new thread and the new story.

Thanks for the comments, Mona, Julia and Verity.
In case there's anyone who who doesn't usually participate in this game but wants to leave a comment, I will keep this thread unlocked for a couple of days.
And after commenting, if they want to join in writing the new story, it can be found in this thread: Five Words, Volume XVIII.
