Sorry, not Snape either.
My perch is on top,
though not very high.
The guise of innocence.
Oh, how I lie!
What am I?
Guessed, Trelawney, MOM Fudge, Voldemort under Quirrell's turban, Snape

Re: Potty Games - Riddles Only (Vol. II)
Sorry about the delay again! Here is a new riddle:
Keeper of memories of peace and fight
Keeper of knowledge of dark and light
Keeper of secrets of love and hate
Three of a family diverse and great.
Each of us had found a friend
But let them down in the end
The brown, the black and the red
Angry, shaken or misled.
Enjoy!

Re: Potty Games - Riddles Only (Vol. II)
The first guess! Thanks, Choices! It's a great guess, but the answer is not the three brothers.
Keep guessing, please.

Re: Potty Games - Riddles Only (Vol. II)
That's another interesting guess, Choices! The answer is not the Gaunts, but a part of the answer is closely connected with someone from that family.
Keep guessing, please.

Re: Potty Games - Riddles Only (Vol. II)
I don't think the riddle refers to people at all. I think it's a set of three books of some kind. I'm thinking that Riddle's Diary is one of the three, but I can't think what the other two would be. I'm not sure there were another two diaries that featured in the series, unless you count the homework diaries that Hermione gave Harry and Ron, and I don't think it refers to those! So maybe the only connection between the three is that they're all books. So for the sake of making a guess so that Julia can say 'No', is it: Riddle's Diary, Hogwarts: A History, and Advanced Potion-Making?

Choices, thanks for the guess, but the answer is not the Black sisters. However, it has been a very short-lived riddle, since Verity has solved it! The answer is indeed
Congratulations, Verity!
The explanation:
Well-done, Verity! I look forward to your next riddle!
- Spoiler:
- the three books: Riddle's Diary, Hogwarts: A History, and (the Half-Blood Prince's copy of) Advanced Potion-Making!
Congratulations, Verity!
The explanation:
- Spoiler:
- Keeper of memories of peace and fight
Hogwarts: A History is about, well, history, of peaceful and not so peaceful events.
Keeper of knowledge of dark and light
The Half-Blood Prince's copy of Advanced Potion-Making: it is full of knowledge concerning both good things (like the bezoar) and bad things (like Sectumsempra).
Keeper of secrets of love and hate
Riddle's diary: it contains Riddle's dark secrets as well as (at some point) Ginny's teenage love secrets relating to Harry.
Three of a family diverse and great.
Three books of the large family of books.
Each of us had found a friend
Reference to characters who were very fond of one or other of these books: Hermione for the history book, Harry for the potions book and Ginny for the Diary.
But let them down in the end
All three of them got disappointed with their books, respectively.
The brown, the black and the red
Hints using hair colours: Brown for Hermione, black for Harry and red for Ginny.
Angry, shaken or misled.
Hermione was quite angry when she found out that her favourite book did not mention the Hogwarts house-elves, Harry was rather shaken after the Sectumsempra incident and Ginny was deliberately misled by Diary-Riddle.
Guessed: the three brothers who had the Deathly Hallow's; Merope Gaunt and her father and brother, the Black sisters.
Well-done, Verity! I look forward to your next riddle!

Re: Potty Games - Riddles Only (Vol. II)
Oh dear! I thought I was on the right track with my guess, but I wasn't expecting that I'd got it completely right. Now I'll have to think of a new riddle. It might take me a couple of days, I'll try to think about it this weekend.

OK, it's not very good, but here's the new riddle.
Black as night
Out of sight
Hidden in the folds
Four plus four
Move no more
Poison bought and sold
Let the guessing begin!

Thanks for the guess Julia. Aragog is not the answer but I can see how it sort of fits the clues.

Wild guess - Borgin and Burkes?
Aragog would have been my first guess, so I am grasping at straws here.
