Well done, Julia. It certainly is...
I look forward to your riddle, Julia.
- Spoiler:
- a Chameleon Ghoul. It is mentioned in Ch.11 of COS -
"Maybe it can make itself invisible," said Hermione, prodding leeches to the bottom of the cauldron. "Or maybe it can disguise itself----pretend to be a suit of armor or something-----I've read about Chameleon Ghouls----"
THE MOM MAY INVESTIGATE,
BUT THEY WILL NEVER SEE ME.
I AM CRAFTY AND DEVIOUS.
I CAN BE ANYTHING I WANT TO BE.
WHAT AM I?
Chameleon Ghouls fall under the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures at the Ministry of Magic who investigate when a ghoul invades a wizard's home. They can be invisible, devious creatures, and they can turn into anything they want to so as not to be discovered. Of course, our Hermione has read about them.
I look forward to your riddle, Julia.

Thanks, Choices and Verity!
It was a difficult and clever riddle, Choices. I would never have guessed it without the hints.
I'll come back with the new riddle as soon as I can.

Ooh, a tricky Christmas riddle!
I'll start us off with the first wrong guess - is it the Dark Mark?

LOL, Verity, at a tricky Christmas riddle! A Christmas riddle it is indeed! Thanks for the first guess, but the answer is not the Dark Mark, although the clues really seem to fit.

Re: Potty Games - Riddles Only (Vol. II)
OK, I'm going to guess a Weasley jumper.
My reasoning is -
First line - Knitted with the help of magic
second line - never ending because Molly makes them every year.
third line - Molly makes them, not buys them
Fourth line - Harry's jumper has the pattern of a snitch, sought by the seeker.

Mona, I like your reasoning, and your guess is definitely a step in the good direction, but the answer is not a Weasley jumper. Thanks for the guess!

Thanks for the guess, Choices! The magic Molly uses to prepare meals and clean up afterwards is such a good idea that it deserves a riddle, however, it will have to be a different riddle. The answer to this one is something else.

Re: Potty Games - Riddles Only (Vol. II)
Ok, could it be when they were in Bellatrix's vault looking for the horcrux and everything started multiplying? I don't remember exactly, but wasn't it Hermione's spell that set off the chain reaction?

Re: Potty Games - Riddles Only (Vol. II)
Great guess, Choices, although the answer has nothing to do with Bella's vault. But you are in the right book.

Re: Potty Games - Riddles Only (Vol. II)
Does it have something to do with Hermione's beaded bag? There does seem to be a never-ending supply of things in there....

Re: Potty Games - Riddles Only (Vol. II)
Welcome back, Puck! Thanks for the guess, but the answer is not Hermione's beaded bag or anything in it.

Re: Potty Games - Riddles Only (Vol. II)
Oh, wait, what about the wreath Hermione made for James and Lily's grave? It's circular, which covers the "never ending" bit, and she made it on Christmas, which I believe was hinted at. It marked the grave that Harry had sought, and was made, not purchased.

The Christmas riddle has been solved! The answer is indeed
The explanation is perfect as well, but, just for the record, I repeat it here:
The riddle baton goes to Puck!
- Spoiler:
- the wreath of Christmas roses that Hermione conjured and Harry left on his parents' grave on Christmas Eve in DH.
The explanation is perfect as well, but, just for the record, I repeat it here:
- Spoiler:
- A helping hand so swift
Hermione raised her wand and made a circular movement when she conjured the wreath.
A never-ending gift
A circle has no end , and the wreath is a "Christmas gift" for Harry's dead parents.
That money never bought
It was conjured, not bought.
A mark on what you sought
Harry had been looking for his parents' grave in the graveyard of Godric's Hollow, and he left the wreath there.
What am I?
The wreath.
Hint: The "helping hand" belongs to Hermione.
Hermione conjured the wreath so Harry could put it on his parents' grave.

Re: Potty Games - Riddles Only (Vol. II)
Sorry it took so long! I had one ablaut figured out, and then thought that I had already used that answer for a previous riddle, so started again.
My perch is on top,
though not very high.
The guise of innocence.
Oh, how I lie!
Guess away!

Good guess, but now are correct I'm afraid. (Though if we were playing hot and cold I'd say you're gradually getting warmer. )
